Polymer Chemistry Perspectives: Applying the Water Quality Index (WQI) for Groundwater Quality Assessment
Abstract: Through the utilization of polymers' special qualities, such as their capacity to concentrate analytes and their affinity for particular pollutants, we establish a strong framework for assessing groundwater quality. A more thorough understanding of groundwater contamination is made possible by the integration of polymer-based techniques with the WQI, empowering stakeholders to decide on remediation and water resource management strategies with knowledge. The quality of groundwater, especially shallow groundwater, is being …

Investigation of Pollution Status in River No. 2, Freetown, Sierra Leone, Using Physicochemical and Bacterial Indicators
Abstract: This study assessed the physicochemical and bacteriological quality of surface water in the River No. 2 watershed, Sierra Leone, through monthly sampling from March–August 2024 at upstream, midstream, and downstream sites. Analyses included temperature, turbidity, pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, ammonia, fluoride, sulfite, nitrate, lead, arsenic, chromium, and microbial indicators (Escherichia coli, fecal and non-fecal coliforms). Most physicochemical parameters met WHO drinking-water guidelines. pH (7.0–7.3), TDS (7–17 mg/L), turbidity …

Assessment of Water Quality along River Ethiope, Delta State
Abstract: The environment, economic growth, and human health all depend on the quantity and quality of water supplies. Given this, the significance of water quality monitoring cannot be overstated. This study was aimed at assessing the water quality of River Ethiope. To achieve this, surface water samples were collected from Ethiope River along its banks at the following towns; Umuaja (SWI), Ebedie (SW2), Abraka (SW3), Sapele (SW4) and Ughara (SW5) axis during …

Study of Groundwater Quality in Shallow Tubewells of Bhubaneswar City Using WQI Method
Abstract: Shallow groundwater is extremely vulnerable owing to overexploitation, anthropogenic activities, and environmental effects. Declining quality of groundwater poses an enormous risk for human health and the entire ecosystem. Nearly 50 per cent urban water supply is contributed by groundwater in Indian cities. Since Bhubaneswar shares a similar scenario where 34 out of 67 wards are partially covered with municipal water supply and the residents of these areas are largely dependent …
