Assessment of Heavy Metals in Underground Water Situated at Automobile Workshops in Ede Metropolis
Abstract: The study investigated the determination of heavy metals concentration (Co, Cd, Ni, Pb, and Cr) in underground water situated in auto-mobile workshops in Ede metropolis. Four different samples were collected, two from the auto-mobiles workshop while two were collected 50 meters away from the Auto-mobiles workshop in both local governments which served as control. The result was Cr-0.416– 0.477 mg/L; Cd-0.018–0.040 mg/L; Pb-0.038–0.066 mg/L; Ni-0.042–0.052 mg/L; Co-0.043–0.200 mg/L. Cobalt has …

Heavy Metals Contamination in Groundwaters of Punjab: A Man-made Curse and its Mitigation
Abstract: The curse of heavy metal contamination in groundwaters of Punjab state is causing health hazards for the population of Punjab. It is not so much a natural disaster as its origin can be traced to a man-made crisis in Punjab. Potentially toxic elements, including high levels of Uranium (U) contamination in the Malwa belt of Punjab, Arsenic contamination in the Majha belt, and Selenium contamination in the Doaba belt of …

Saccharomyces Cerevisiae and Pichia Pastoris Optimize NH4NO3 by 50 % in Solanum Lycopersicum Preventing N2O Release.
Abstract: In agriculture, the unregulated application of NH4NO3 for healthy growth of Solanum lycopersicum is associated in the soil with the denitrification of free NO3- (nitrate), with an increase in N2O, a greenhouse gas, that contributes to global warming, loss of soil fertility. An ecological option to avoid denitrification that releases N2O as other environmental problems is to inoculate S. lycopersicum seeds with endophytic yeasts that promote plant growth, such as …

Water reservoir engineering and management
Abstract: This work aims to develop a practical system to store water in times of abundance and reuse it in times of scarcity. The proposed system uses natural caves, caverns, or empty underground spaces from mining or oil or gas extraction to store water. The geological structure of the water reservoir should be a non-porous substrate to avoid leakage. Water collection comes from dam discharge during thaw times or river flooding, …

Sustainable Architecture for Rural Communities: The Tanzanian Family House Model
Abstract: Sustainable rural housing in East Africa must respond simultaneously to climatic stress, water scarcity, sanitation challenges, and socio-cultural practices. This article presents the Tanzanian Family House as a climate-responsive and resource-efficient housing model developed specifically for rural Tanzanian communities. The project integrates low embodied energy materials, passive environmental strategies, and decentralized infrastructure systems to create a durable and culturally grounded dwelling that can be constructed using local skills and materials. …

Evaluating the Environmental Impact of Mining: Procedures, Outcomes, and Sustainable Remediation
Abstract: Mining is necessary for economic growth and getting resources, yet also has a big impact on the environment. This article looks at the different ways that mining affects the environment, such as land degradation, deforestation, water pollution, air pollution, and loss of biodiversity. Mining on the surface and underground can cause soil erosion, damage ecosystems, and pollute groundwater and surface water with heavy metals and harmful compounds. Furthermore, the emission …

Modeling Deformation Mechanisms of Horseshoe Tunnel Excavation In Layered Ground Using Flac 3D
Abstract: In the modern era of civilization, the transportation sector plays a pivotal role in a nation's development. Efficient transportation networks are essential for economic progress, and tunnels are particularly valuable in this regard, as they help reduce travel time and fuel consumption. With growing interest in underground infrastructure, researchers are increasingly focusing on tunnel-related studies. This paper examines the deformational behavior of a horseshoe-shaped tunnel constructed in layered soil, subjected …

Urban Eye: Manhole Surveillance with IoT
Abstract: Every nation hopes to implement the idea of the "smart city" on its own. Many different issues must be resolved in order to grow the seed into a large tree. The drainage system is one of them, and it is essential. With the right drainage system, even a tiny region can make a significant contribution to society. A sewer system can be accessed through manholes. Manholes are the best approach …

Intelligent Water Distribution Management using IoT
Abstract: Water plays a vital role in agriculture, making its efficient management essential for sustainable crop production. However, undetected leaks in irrigation systems can result in significant water loss, irregular watering of fields, soil degradation, and reduced crop yield. Conventional methods like manual inspection are not only labor-intensive but also ineffective in identifying leaks promptly – emphasizing the need for a smarter and automated approach to water monitoring. To address this …

Smart City Based Manhole Monitoring System
Abstract: Urban environments are increasingly reliant on complex underground infrastructure networks, with manholes serving as critical access points for maintenance, inspection, and drainage. However, traditional manhole monitoring methods, often manual and labour-intensive, can be inefficient and prone to human error. This can lead to serious safety and health hazards, such as accidents caused by open manholes, exposure to harmful gas leaks, and infrastructure damage from overflows due to undetected blockage This …
