Smart Energy Meter Using IOT
Abstract: Due to the increasing development of the human population and their reliance on electricity, the demand for power has increased, leading to a shortage of electricity at peak hours. Resolving the energy issues requires updating the electrical infrastructure. Energy distribution and consumption scenarios can be addressed by the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. Power optimization, power card facilities, automatic billing, and providing users with relevant energy consumption data …

Evaluating Smart Energy Meter Technologies for Optimized Smart Grid Performance
Abstract: The population is growing and there is an increased need for energy due to industrial development. Customers must become more conscious of their energy use if they hope to increase energy efficiency. Utilities have been creating new electric energy meters, or “smart meters”, in recent years. Compared to a typical energy meter, a smart meter is a digital energy meter that measures electrical energy use and gives additional information. The …

Enhancing Smart Grid Resilience Through AI-Based Fault Classification
Abstract: Traditional power grids can be developed into smart grids, and they are comprised of the latest information and communication technologies (ICTs), which are based on establishing the relationship between the conventional electricity systems along with the usage of smart meters and distributed generation. This dynamic improves energy efficiency and the integration of renewables. Well, the dynamic and reversible power injection from Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) creates substantial operational problems. These …

Voltage Vigilance: Ensuring Balance and curbing Theft in Power Distribution Networks
Abstract: This project proposes a system for detecting electrical overload and earth faults using an Arduino Uno controller. The system uses a current sensor to identify overloads and a voltage sensor to detect earth faults. An ESP8266 module allows users to switch between the two fault detection modes. When an overload is detected, the Arduino turns off AC bulbs using a relay and sends an alert message via a GSM module. …

Enhancing Protection and Monitoring in Modern Distribution Systems Using Smart Meter: A Review
Abstract: Emerging distribution systems are witnessing a significant increase in the deployment of smart meters (SMs). Though, some remain hesitant about adopting SMs due to concerns related to health risks from radio wave exposure, fire hazards, and the privacy of user data. Additional key issues are high cost for energy suppliers, with perceived less advantages, as highlighted in detailed cost-benefit analyses. In some instances, existing SM applications have failed to justify …
