Performance Based Seismic Evaluation of G+12 RCC Structures in Seismic Zone IV with and without Corner Shear Walls Considering Soil Types I, II, and III
Abstract: Seismic behavior of multi-storey buildings is significantly influenced by structural stiffness and supporting soil conditions. This study investigates the seismic response of a G+12 reinforced concrete building by comparing two structural configurations, namely buildings with shear walls and buildings without shear walls, under three soil conditions: Type I, Type II, and Type III soils. The analysis is carried out using the response spectrum method in accordance with IS 1893 (Part …

Seismic-Resilient Structural Systems: Geotechnical Engineering
Abstract: Earthquakes represent one of the most destructive natural hazards, capable of causing severe structural damage, loss of life, and substantial economic disruption. Seismic waves propagating through the ground can induce excessive forces and deformations in buildings, often leading to partial or complete collapse. Statistical records indicate that thousands of earthquakes occur globally each year, including several major events that result in significant damage. Past earthquake disasters have repeatedly demonstrated that …

Analysis of Elevated Liquid Storage Tank on Sloping Ground with Variable Heights
Abstract: Past earthquake events have shown that even well-designed elevated water tanks can suffer severe damage or collapse. Much of this damage occurs due to a limited understanding of the behavior and appropriate selection of supporting systems during the design process. With a large mass concentrated at the top of slender supports, these tanks are especially vulnerable to horizontal seismic forces. Therefore, it is crucial to evaluate the strength and performance …
