Host-Pathogen Coevolution: Implications for Immune Evasion and Pathogen Fitness
Abstract: The interaction between hosts and pathogens represents a continuous evolutionary struggle, shaping both microbial virulence and host immunity. Pathogens employ diverse strategies to evade immune surveillance, ranging from antigenic variation and molecular mimicry to hijacking of host immune checkpoints. Simultaneously, hosts refine innate and adaptive immune mechanisms to counteract infection and limit damage. This reciprocal adaptation, known as host–pathogen coevolution, influences pathogen persistence, transmission, and fitness, while also sculpting immune …

Host Invasion to Immune Evasion: Emerging Concepts in Pathogen Virulence Strategies
Abstract: Pathogens have evolved a wide repertoire of virulence strategies that allow them to invade host tissues, establish infection, and circumvent immune responses. From the initial steps of adhesion and colonization to complex molecular mimicry, antigenic variation, and immunomodulation, pathogens display remarkable adaptability. While traditional research has emphasized host cell entry and toxin production, emerging evidence highlights subtler and more dynamic strategies such as manipulation of host signaling pathways, subversion of …

Virulence Factors in pathogens :mechanisms of infection & disease progression
Abstract: Pathogens, like bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, have evolved specialized tools – known as virulence factors – that help them infect hosts, escape the immune system, and cause disease. These factors play a key role in determining how severe an infection becomes, how quickly it spreads, and how the body responds. Some pathogens use adhesins to stick to host cells, while others produce toxins that damage tissues or disrupt normal …

How Scientists Look for New Pathogens Before They Spread
Abstract: Emerging infectious illnesses are a persistent danger to global health. They often come from unexpected places, such wildlife reservoirs, changes in the climate, or human activities. Finding new diseases before they create epidemics is one of the biggest problems in modern epidemiology. This article talks about how scientists use genetic monitoring, field sampling, and real-time data processing to find, track, and describe new infectious organisms in a way that works …

Advances In HIV Research: Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, And Emerging Therapeutic Strategies
Abstract: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) remains a critical global health concern, infecting millions of individuals each year. The introduction of antiretroviral therapy (ART) has markedly improved disease outcomes by suppressing viral replication, restoring immune function, and extending patient longevity. Despite these advances, the complete eradication of HIV is hindered by the persistence of viral reservoirs, the emergence of drug-resistant strains, and disparities in healthcare accessibility. This review summarizes key developments in …

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: Types, Pathogenesis, Diagnosis, and Novel Therapeutic Strategies
Abstract: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most prevalent type of lung cancer, accounting for over 85% of all cases globally. It remains one of the primary causes of cancer-related death due to its rapid progression, few early symptoms, and late detection. The three main forms of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and giant cell carcinoma; each has a unique histology, prognosis, and response to …

Role of Impaired Digestion in Disease Pathogenesis: According to Unani System of Medicine
Abstract: The relationship between digestion and disease occupies a central position in Greco-Arab (Unani) medicine, as emphasized by classical physicians such as Ibn Sina and Al-Razi. In Unani medicine, digestion (Haḍm) is not confined to the gastrointestinal tract alone but represents a comprehensive physiological and metabolic process involving four sequential stages: gastric digestion (Haḍm-e-Mi‘dī), hepatic digestion (Haḍm-e-Kabidī), vascular digestion (Haḍm-e-‘Urūqī), and tissue digestion (Haḍm-e-‘Uḍwī). These stages are governed by Quwwat-e-Hāḍima (digestive …

Monkeypox Virus (MPXV): Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, and Control Strategies: Exploring the Recent Resurgence of Monkeypox, Its Transmission Dynamics, Clinical Manifestations, and Public Health Responses
Abstract: Monkeypox virus (MPXV) has re-emerged as a significant public health concern, with increasing cases reported worldwide. This zoonotic virus, primarily endemic to Central and West Africa, has demonstrated the potential for human-to-human transmission, leading to outbreaks in non-endemic regions. Unlike smallpox, which was eradicated through mass vaccination, monkeypox continues to persist due to the lack of widespread immunity and effective antiviral treatments. The resurgence of MPXV in recent years, particularly …

Review: Virulence factors, resistance genes and pathogenicity of Moraxella catarrhalis
Abstract: An estimated 2-4 million cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) in adults are exacerbated by Moraxella catarrhalis annually in the US, making it a pathogen of increasing significance for respiratory tract infections. It often colonizes the nasopharynx without causing any symptoms and an opportunistic bacterial infection of the respiratory mucosa that is exclusive to humans. In our study, we reviewed references about the important virulence factors that M. catarrhalis possess …

Climate Change and the Spread of Pathogens: Implications for Public Health
Abstract: Climate change plays a significant role in the spread of infectious diseases by shifting how pathogens behave, affecting how vulnerable hosts are, and changing the way diseases are transmitted.Rising global temperatures, changing precipitation levels, and extreme weather events are accelerating the spread of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, increasing the risk of outbreaks worldwide. Warmer conditions favor the survival and expansion of vector-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, and Zika …

Various pathogens—such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites—are responsible for these infections, especially in healthcare environments where they easily spread. They can be transmitted through direct contact with infected patients, contaminated medical equipment, or even airborne particles.Patients with weakened immune systems, those requiring prolonged …

Quorum Sensing and Biofilm Dynamics in Pathogens: An Evolving Frontier in Infectious Disease
Abstract: Bacterial and fungal pathogens rarely act as solitary invaders. Instead, they engage in sophisticated chemical communication known as quorum sensing (QS) to coordinate population-wide behaviours and construct structured, multicellular biofilm communities. These biofilms, composed of extracellular polymeric substances, not only facilitate microbial persistence on biotic and abiotic surfaces but also confer remarkable protection against host immune defenses and antimicrobial therapies. QS systems act as central regulators of biofilm dynamics, orchestrating …
