Biochemical and Kinetic Investigations of Partially Purified Thermostable Acid Phosphatases from Solanum tuberosum and Citrus limonium
Abstract: Biochemical and kinetic properties of partially purified thermostable acid phosphatases from Solanum tuberosum and Citrus limonium involving ammonium sulphate fractionation have been investigated. The maximum specific activity in Solanum tuberosum and Citrus limonium was found in 40–80% (ACP I) and 0–40% (ACP II) fractions, respectively. The specific activities of ACP I and ACP II were 46.01 and 48.00 units mg − 1 with Km values of 1.00 and 2.50 mM, …

Antimicrobial Activity of Partially Purified Extract of Streptomyces Sp. on MRSA
Abstract: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of increasingly prevalent, difficult and expensive-to-treat nosocomial as well as community-acquired infections worldwide. Accurate and rapid detection of MRSA in a clinical laboratory is of utmost importance to avoid treatment failure as these strains are multidrug resistant and there are limited options to treat these infections. Hence, exploring newer antibacterial substances is the need of the hour. In this study, phenotypically and …

Production and Partial Purification of Tannase from Bacillus sp.
Abstract: Micro-organisms tannase is industrial-important enzymatic enzymes can, through oxidation with secondary metabolites including such tannins, catalyze that production of Gallic acid or glucose. Tannase are commonly used in the production, drink, food processing and brewing and chemical industries. Tannic acid with low-value agro-industrial waste was also commonly used in manufacturing besides tannase production. Tannase also have huge 124–310 KDa variety with molecular weights as well as a great deal with …

L-glutaminase of Vibrio sp. from White-Spot Virus disease out-broken shrimp pond
Abstract: Bacteria from White Spot Viral (WSV) disease out-broken shrimp (Penaeus monodon) pond sediments located in the bank of Vellar estuary, South east coast of India were enumerated, enriched, screened by plate assay and confirmed as Vibrio sp. through biochemical tests. Extracellular L-glutaminase was eluted from Vibrio sp. by centrifugation and purified by downstream process. The final yield was 1.7% with 15.4 IU mg-1 of specific activities, which was 17.2 fold …

Laccase Production by Trametes hirsuta, Trametes pubescens and Marasmius alliaceus from Agricultural Residues and ITS Usage for Environmental Remediation
Abstract: Laccase has wide range of application in environmental remediation, but this is not produced in large amount due to its expenses in production. This study deals with the production of laccases from inexpensive lignocellulosic wastes such as rice straw, rice bran and banana skin. Marasmius alliaceus gave 1773.16 U/L laccase activities when rice straw was used as substrates and the activity reached by Trametes pubescens in banana skin is 1332 …

Isolation and Characterization of Protease Producing Organism Bacillus Species from Slaughter House Waste
Abstract: The purpose of this investigation was to isolate protease producing bacteria from slaughter house waste collected in local area of Kaliakkavilai. The Bacillus sp. was identified by several biochemical and physiological tests. The effect of different production parameters such as pH, temperature, metal ions concentration and substrate concentration for protease production by the isolated bacterial strain were studied. The enzyme production was assayed in submerged fermentation with optimized parameters to …

Genetic Authentication of Acacia Senegal (L.) Wild
Abstract: A study was carried out to ascertain the taxonomic identity and phylogenetic lineage of three presumed Acacia senegalensis using molecular markers. Three (3) varieties of seeds presumed to belong to Acacia spp. were collected from the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN) Benin City and three BP haplotypes (A, B, and C) was used as control for the analysis. These seeds were processed at the Applied Biotech International Laboratory Nigeria …

Isolation and Partial Characterization of a Lectin from Seeds of Pongamia Glabra
Abstract: Lectins are non-immunogenic proteins that selectively bind carbohydrates without processing them enzymatically. They have wide range of applications in agricultural and biomedical research and it is useful in the antidotal treatment of snake bite. Seed lectins can be attributed to the importance of legume seeds as a rich source of dietary protein. The Pongamia glabra were homogenized by using distilled acetone. The defatted dried seed meal was mixed with 20mm Phosphate …
