Semen Preservation and Artificial Insemination in Bengal Goat at Field Level
Abstract: Semen ejaculates (n=72) were collected from five Black Bengal Bucks by artificial vagina method. Semen samples were evaluated for volume, sperm cell concentration, motility and morphology. Semen samples were preserved using Tris –Egg yolk-Citrate buffer in liquid state at refrigeration temperature. Rural youths (n=21) were trained on artificial insemination (AI) in goats and preserved semen was used for AI in rural villages of West Bengal and kidding rate was recorded. …

Significance of Artificial Insemination in Poultry
Abstract: AbstractArtificial insemination (AI) involves the deposition of semen into female reproductive tract manually. It starts from the collection of the semen from the male and its evaluation in terms of motility, viability and concentration followed by its deposition into female reproductive tract. Sexual maturity in both male and female bird occurs at 18 weeks of age. One ejaculate of a male can cover up 20 female birds by using AI. …

On-farm Evaluation of Female Calf Production Through Assisted Reproduction in Improving Smallholder Dairying in Mirab Azerinet Woreda, South Region, Ethiopia
Abstract: In dairy industries production of a heifer for herd replacement and to increase income is a key component. This study was planned to compare artificial insemination (AI) efficiency by using sexed (sex-sorted) semen and conventional semen types and to develop ideas in the production scheme of replacement female calves. Data had been gathered from January 2018 up to December 2019 on 846 inseminations in non-pregnant indigenous cows and heifers. There …

A Duplex PCR for Simultaneous Detection of Brucella and Bovine Herpesvirus – Genome in Clinical Samples
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 A disease-free germplasm is a prerequisite for getting healthy progeny. Many diseases are transmitted through semen either by natural service or artificial insemination causing reproduction failure and economic losses. The intermittent excretion of Bovine Herpesvirus-1 (BoHV-1) and Brucella in semen and their transmission through artificial insemination has been recorded. PCR has become an invaluable tool because of speed and simplicity with …

Estrus (Heat) Detection Aids in Dairy Animals: A Review
Abstract: In India, as dairy technology is developing day by day, reproductive performance of dairy animals requires regular and accurate heat detection. Heat detection is very useful for proper timing of artificial insemination. Failure to detect estrus (heat) is a major contributing factor for low fertility. New technologies for the solution of this problem must be more effective than visual observation and aids currently used to detect estrus. This paper mainly …
