Continuous Commissioning Techniques for Ground Source Heat Pumps: Review
Abstract: This study offers a model-based continuous commissioning methodology to find control-related performance gaps in HVAC systems with ground-source heat pumps. Traditional continuous commissioning is still helpful in finding energy performance gaps, even if MBCCx employs a system model as a reference to find operational inefficiencies and control issues arising from subsystem integration. A calibrated physics-based model that depicts the system performance as intended during the design phase forms the basis …

Renewable-Powered HVAC Systems: Advances in Solar, Bioenergy, and Heat Pump Technologies
Abstract: The global demand for refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation (HVAC) systems has increased rapidly due to population growth, urbanization, industrialization, and rising expectations for indoor thermal comfort. These systems account for a substantial share of global energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, primarily because they rely heavily on fossil-fuel-based electricity and thermal energy. Consequently, the decarbonization of HVAC and refrigeration sectors has become a critical component of global climate …

Optimization Strategies for Finned-Tube Gas Coolers in CO2 Heat Pump Systems: A Review
Abstract: In order to reduce CO2 emissions through increased energy use flexibility, this article examines existing energy solutions. It focuses on demand-side management tools such as electric vehicles and heat pumps, as well as storage possibilities. The aim is to shift to sustainable energy sources by striking a balance between non-renewables (coal, gas) and renewables (solar, wind). This is demonstrated by the notable decrease in the usage of oil-fired boilers and …

Multi-Criteria Assessment of Renewable Energy Technologies for Solar Buildings Using Waspas Method
Abstract: This research comprehensively evaluates renewable energy alternatives for solar buildings using the WASPAS multi-criteria decision-making framework. The analysis covers six distinct energy technologies: geothermal heat pumps, wind turbines, biomass heating systems, micro-hydro installations, fuel cells and building-integrated energy efficiency systems. These options are assessed against four key criteria: energy efficiency, economic viability, environmental sustainability and technical feasibility. The WASPAS methodology combines both summative and multiplicative techniques to produce reliable rankings. …
