Characterization of Activated Carbon Prepared from Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Peels by X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF)
Abstract: The orange (specifically, the sweet orange) is the fruit of the citrus species Citrus sinensis in the family rutaceae. Citrus sinensis (orange) fruit is one of the common traditional plants grown in many areas in India. The wastes of the Citrus sinensis (orange) fruit called orange peels were used to prepare activated carbon through chemical activation method. The activated carbon is an excellent adsorbent and its applications are widely described …

Effects of Cinnamic Acid and the Active Constituents of Cinnamon on Human Health and Diseases
Abstract: Free radicals can be generated continuously in the physiological process in the form of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS). It occurs especially in the mitochondria, cytoplasm and cell membranes and plays an important role in the pathogenesis of several chronic disorders. Antioxidants can scavenge ROS and RNS and protect the cells against oxidative damage. Recently, natural antioxidants are the focus of interest because of their radical …

Canker-induced Shifts in Microbial Diversity for Antagonist Mediated Disease Management: A Mini-review
Abstract: Citrus canker is a major bacterial disease caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis subsp. citri in acid group of citrus fruits, causing host plant microbiome to undergo structural-to-functional changes in rhizosphere, endosphere and phyllosphere. The paucity of research breakthroughs on these lines makes such elusive and equally complex issue, still clueless to researchers, unless a renewed thought is given to shift our focus from microbe specific function to plant microbiome in response …

Dietary Modification and Adequacy Among Jaundice Patients
Abstract: Jaundice refers to the yellow discolouration of the skin and heavily perfused tissues. Since jaundice is a mere symptom and not a disease, its dietary management is based upon underlying cause. The present study is an attempt to assess the dietary intake of jaundice patients and evaluate it in terms of nutritional adequacy. A sample of 100 patients from both the sexes and in any age group was selected randomly …

Havoc of Papaya Mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus) and Its Management Strategies
Abstract: The papaya mealybug (Paracoccus marginatus) is a serious problem that affects mulberries, citrus, and papaya among other agricultural and horticultural crops. Originating in Central America, it has spread around the world and caused extensive harm because of its capacity to consume plant sap, which results in reduced crop yields, fruit drop, and chlorosis. In addition, the insect releases honeydew, which encourages the development of sooty mold, further impeding photosynthesis and …
