Similarity Solution of Two-dimensional Fluid Flow over a Flat Plate Using Shooting Technique
Abstract: The steady incompressible laminar viscous flow over a flat plate is solved using similarity variable transformed equation. The two-dimensional momentum and forced convection energy equations are reduced to boundary layer equation. These equations are transformed into similarity variable form. The surface of the wall is maintained at constant temperature. Shooting technique is used to solve these equations using Runge-Kutta method, Predictor-Corrector method, Modified Euler method, Adam-Bashforth method and Milne’s method. …

Composition of Ideal Fluid Flows Around Cylinder Using Bilinear Transformation
Abstract: Advent of conformal mapping eases to model a flow in sought-after domain without trade- off between laws of fluid mechanics and the theory of complex valued-functions. The far-reaching properties manifested by conformal mapping discern and facilitate solution of large class of two-dimensional flow problems. Bilinear transformation is amidst the conformal mappings. The properties, mapping a circular boundary onto horizontal line and composition of bilinear transformations is again a bilinear transformation …

A Method of Mesh Deformation for Flow Analysis Around Oscillating Bodies
Abstract: In general, high-speed rotating machines are subjected to complex phenomena due to various reasons, such as increased noise and strong vibration due to dynamic unbalance, which affect the dynamic motion of rotating machines and are necessarily a problem to overcome. Therefore, it is necessary to have a mathematical model to simulate it, and a strong tool to solve the constructed model. Using fluid-structure coupling techniques, which are currently a powerful …

Preference assessment of energy and momentum equations over 2D-SKM method in compound channels
Abstract: Gradually varied flow in channels could be assessed and investigated from both the energy and momentum equations standpoints. Depending on what method is implemented, the computational results could be different. Currently, there is an ambiguity on the preference of utilizing the energy and momentum equations standpoints. This study attempts to respond to this ambiguity and the question that among these pair viewpoints which one would provide a closer solution to …

Thermo-hydraulic Performance of Multi-Pass Double-Pipe Heat Exchangers: Integrating Polymer Composite Tube Wall Materials via CFD Parametric Study and Experimental Validation
Abstract: Metallic materials such as steel and copper have traditionally dominated heat exchanger manufacturing because of their excellent thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, and long-established industrial reliability. However, their high weight, susceptibility to corrosion in aggressive operating environments, and inability to provide tunable thermal properties have motivated interest in alternative materials for next-generation thermal systems. Thermally conductive polymer composites reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets (GNP), boron nitride (BN), and carbon-based fillers offer an …

Influence of Horizontal Crossflow on the Rayleigh-Taylor Instability: A Numerical Approach
Abstract: Rayleigh-Taylor Instability (RTI) is a typical occurrence in natural events, engineering, and industrial applications. When the lighter fluid (bottom medium) is forcing the heavier fluid (top medium) on top of the lighter fluid because of a gravitational field, then that phenomenon is called Rayleigh-Taylor instability (RTI). Despite extensive records of investigating this common phenomenon i.e., RTI with several unique boundary conditions, apparently, there are no prior investigations for the RTI …

Dependency of pure liquid pool boiling heat transfer coefficient to bubble contact angle on roughened Brass heater in new model
Abstract: Heat transfer coefficient of nucleate pool boiling Nucleation is a basic part of phase transformations, which plays an important role in understanding and describing any phase change processes. For a boiling process, nucleation appears in the initial stage, and directly affects bubble formation and boiling intensity. According to the heterophase fluctuations which induce phase transition, the phase change has two main types. Classically, phase change caused by the fluctuation with …

Numerical Study and Comparison of Passive Mixing in Helical Micromixers
Abstract: A passive mixing inside three micromixers has been studied with water as the mixing fluid. Since the mixing at the micro-level is governed by species diffusion hence it is a time-consuming process that requires an extended length of micromixer for the required amount of mixing. The present study tackles this problem by introducing two helical micromixers, a Three-dimensional helical micromixer (TDHM), and TDHM having four inlets (TDHM-FO). These micromixers need …
