Incorporating Material Fatigue Parameter Determine in The Rolling & Sliding Contact Fatigue Analysis of Gears
Abstract: As the material's intricate stresses and strains are always shifting during phases of loading, determining the predicted equipment working under rolling-sliding contact loads and their fatigue lives (wheels, bearings, and gears) is particularly difficult. Another difficulty is not knowing the precise characteristics of the material used to make the components, which is particularly noticeable. when it comes to heat-treated components, where the material characteristics' values can differ greatly among the …

Friction and Wear Response of CottonSeed Oils and Esterified CottonSeed Oil and their Blends with Mineral Engine Oil in a Reciprocating Sliding Contact at Severe Contact Conditions
Abstract: Many studies investigating the tribological performance of pure cottonseed and other bio-based oils have been conducted; a better understanding of vegetable oil tribologicalperformance at extreme conditions is still required. Little work has been carried out to studythe effect of vegetable oils on the performance of a lubricant formed from a blend ofcottonseed oil and conventional mineral engine oil. This work presents the tribologicalperformance of esterified cottonseed oil, and their blends …

Prevention of Corrosion in Electronic Articulated Forms
Abstract: This is study of typical corrosion failure in electronics arose from usual methods as galvanic corrosion, electrochemical migration, and bias induced corrosion. Common metals and alloys used in electronic devices are Al, Au, Cu, Ag, Sn, Pb and alloyed forms. Noble metal plated high performance electrical contacts have descriptive issues as high corrosion resistance thereby stable electrical behaviour. Films of metals and alloys constitutive to chip fabrication has detected to …

Experimental Analysis of Wear Characteristics in Natural Fibre Composite Materials
Abstract: In mechanical systems, energy loss and material degradation due to attrition are frequently the consequences of sliding contacts, which frequently lead to premature system failure. In this study, at 50°C, 80°C, and 110°C, the hardness was tested; the results showed that the values were 350.7, 422.5, and 455.5 HV, respectively. After conducting a high-temperature wear test, the mass loss of the as-deposited composite coatings was assessed by an electrochemical approach …

Finite Element Modelling of Contact Stresses in Helical Gear Systems
Abstract: Helical gears are widely used in modern power‐transmission systems because of their high load‐carrying capacity, smooth meshing action, and increased overlapping of gear teeth. However, the design of helical gear pairs is constrained by contact stresses generated at the mating tooth surfaces, which can lead to surface fatigue (pitting), micro-cracking, and ultimately gear failure. Traditional analytical methods, such as those of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) or International Organization …

Development of a Durable Superhydrophobic EP/PDMS Coating Reinforced with Micro-CaCO₃ and Nano-ZnO for Enhanced Corrosion Protection and Multifunctional Performance on Carbon Steel
Abstract: Balancing exceptional multifunctional performance with mechanical robustness in micro-nano composite films remains a significant challenge for practical applications. In this work, a superhydrophobic coating reinforced with micro-CaCO₃ and nano-ZnO particles was fabricated through a versatile single-step brushing method. The optimized EP/PDMS@micro-CaCO₃/nano-ZnO coating achieved a water contact angle (WCA) of 173.54° ± 2.53° and a sliding angle (SA) of 1.50° ± 1.12°. Owing to its carefully engineered micro-nano hierarchical structure, the …

A Critical Review on Semi-solid and Solid Lubricants for Industrial Applications
Abstract: Friction materials are very important for the safe moving of automobiles and the safety of people. As the pad slides against its match, the moving energy is turned into heat by the friction. As the vehicle's speed is lost as heat in the pads and rotors, the friction at the contact slows it down. Lubricants are compounds that are applied to moving parts to reduce friction and wear. Used primarily …

Tribological Behaviour of En 31 Bearing Steel Against Altin, Alcrn and Crn Coated High Speed Steel
Abstract: Mechanical parts like bearing in modern machining systems are often subjected to wear and friction causing high heat generation at the interacting zones leading to reduced lifecycle and increased energy consumption of machinery. In this investigation friction and wear characteristics of bearing material EN31 steel against the CrN, AlCrN and AlTiN deposited on high speed steel as counter material is presented. Tribological tests are conducted on a pin on disc …

Comparative Analysis of Dip and Spray Techniques with Ethanol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, and Acetone Hydrophobic Glass Slides with Al2O3 Coating
Abstract: The hydrophobic effects of Al₂O₃ coatings on glass slides are investigated in this work by comparing dip and spray procedures using three distinct solvents: acetone, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and ethanol. Using both dip and spray techniques, the experimental design systematically applies Al₂O₃ coatings on glass slides. Then, the effect of the chosen solvents on hydrophobicity is investigated. Delineating the complex interaction between coating processes and solvent options requires careful analysis …

Fabrication and Assessment of Tribological Performance of Nickel-Graphene-MXene Hybrid Nano-composites
Abstract: As industries such as aerospace, automotive, defence, and electronics demand materials with superior wear resistance, high strength, and thermal stability, traditional metals are reaching their performance limits. Hybrid nanocomposites offer a pathway to meet these stringent requirements. In this study, novel Nickel-Graphene-MXene hybrid nanocomposites were fabricated using a powder metallurgy route, incorporating varying weight percentages (up to 2 wt.%) of MXene and 1 wt.% graphene nanosheets into a nickel matrix …

Frictional properties of thermally processed electroless nickel coatings
Abstract: Electroless plating was used to deposit the nickel (Ni) coatings on the carbon steel substrate, both with and without incorporated cubic boron nitride (c-BN) nanoparticles. Coatings were put through tests under both heat-treated and as-deposited conditions. In addition to measuring hardness and roughness, the coating structure was characterized.
