Modification of gating System of Ball Valve Component using Soft-cast Simulation
Abstract: There are two main important considerations in castings are quality of the casting and yielding of the casting due to which scrape of material will reduce. Production of good quality casting mainly depends upon the gating system. In casting process gating and risering system has direct effect on its quality. Generally, many industries follow the trial and error method for casting process which is not economical for foundries for long …

Application of E-Foundry Based Simulation for the Development of Gating System Design for Endshield FG200 Casting
Abstract: Every casting, by virtue of its geometry, shape, basic material, composition and process has an optimal method. Casting should be designed to achieve controlled progressive directional solidification so that it becomes free from solidification related defects particularly shrinkage porosity. In this research project, endshield FG200 grey casting is being simulated using efoundry for the development of new gating system design. This new gating system ensures directional solidification in casting, thus …

A Review on Study of Casting Defect in Automobile Component
Abstract: Casting process is the most widely used process in manufacturing industries especially in automotive products. Production of casting involves various processes like pattern making, molding, core making and melting. It is very difficult to produce defect free castings. In developing country, foundry industries suffer from poor quality and productivity due to involvement of number of process parameters in casting process, which challenges explanation about the cause of casting defects. The …

A Review Paper on Minimisation of Sand Casting Defects through Quality Improvement Methods
Abstract: Casting is a process of producing near net–shape metal components. It requires detailed planning, execution and quality inspection to ensure not only the dimensional accuracy of casting parts but the metallurgical integrity and mechanical properties of castings. This paper reviews the different types of casting defects such as shrinkage porosity, cold shut, sand inclusions, mould failure, surface hardening occurring in foundries. These defects directly affect on profitability and quality level …

Enhancing Compressive Strength and Durability through Optimization of Concrete Mixtures
Abstract: This research investigates how varying cement-aggregate ratio, water-cement ratio, and slump height affect the compressive strength of concrete mixtures. Through an analysis of 36 samples, each representing different combinations of these parameters, significant insights are gained into the optimization of concrete mix designs for construction applications. The study reveals that higher water-cement ratios tend to decrease compressive strength due to increased porosity in cured concrete. Conversely, higher cement-aggregate ratios generally …
