Contamination of Salad Vegetables by Enteropathogens
Abstract: Salad vegetables provide nutrients, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and are often consumed without cooking. The consumption of salad vegetables is a risk factor for infection by enteric bacterial, viral and parasitic pathogens. Vegetables that are consumed raw, are recognized as an important channel for the transmission of enteropathogens and considered as a high risk of microbiological contamination product. This mini review is based on the selected articles searched in research databases. …

A Review on Antioxidants Obtained from Natural Sources
Abstract: The body uses antioxidants as a defensive mechanism against reactive oxygen species, which are typically formed during the body’s numerous physiological functions. These antioxidants come from a variety of sources, including exogenous dietary sources and endogenous antioxidants found in the body. The substitution of natural food antioxidants with synthetic ones in recent decades has increased interest in vegetable sources and the screening of low-cost raw materials, especially from agriculture, to …

Catalysed Biofuels Using Vegetable Oils and Animal Fats
Abstract: It is a first to use biochemical modification of fats to create fuel for transport. The chemical transformation is required to produce products that are more useful and have qualities similar to those of crude oil-derived fuels. Biodiesel (a combination of methyl esters produced by transesterification) and green diesel are the two forms of fuels discussed (paraffins produced by hydrogenation of oils). Three bio-lubricant synthesis strategies are also discussed. Biofuels …

Materials for Food Packaging, Including a Focus on Biopolymers: Properties and Applications
Abstract: The extensive usage of traditional plastics that are derived from petroleum is a major contribution to environmental deterioration because it is believed that these plastics will linger in the environment after being thrown away for hundreds of years beyond that time. There is a growing trend in today's society to promote the use of bioplastics as an option that is less harmful to the environment than polymers that are derived …

Critical Overview: Preparation of Bioplastics Using Different Reinforcement Fillers
Abstract: The widespread use of synthetic plastics poses a significant threat to the environment due to their nonbiodegradable nature and reliance on nonrenewable petrochemical sources. Among these, single-use plastics are of particular concern as they are difficult to recycle efficiently. To mitigate this issue, bioplastics offer a promising alternative, as they are derived from renewable sources and are biodegradable. Bioplastics are produced using natural materials, such as plant, animal, and microbial …

Experimental Investigation on the Production and Usage of UCVO and WSLO as an Alternative Fuels to Diesel Engines
Abstract: Recently, black/biodiesels are gaining wider popularity as they can be made from renewable resources and wastages, thus, providing an extra environmental values. Indeed, reuse of the waste spent lubrication oil (WSLO) and used vegetable cooking oils (UVCO) has attracted researchers as the wastes generated are on a massive level everywhere and are posing an environmental hazard in handling serious problems of waste management. The transesterification process and centrifuge operations are …

Cucumis Sativus: A Review
Abstract: The family Cucurbitaceae includes the cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). 30 species of Cucumis are distributed in Africa and Asia. One of the first vegetables to be farmed, cucumbers are native to the tropics. It has almost 3,000 years of historical documentation (Yawalkar, 1985). Widespread cultivation of Cucumis sativus (CS) is found in Bangladesh (including the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Gazipur, Sherpur, Cox's Bazar, Tangail, and other forests), the Indian subcontinent, and …
