Effect of Radiation Dose, Dose Rate and Annealing Temperature on Edible Potato Starch by Spectroscopic Methods
Abstract: Potato starch (PS) is a favorite food choice in different forms. During its storage and applications the PS is exposed to different radiations. In the present study the authors attempt to compare radiation effects (gamma and Electron beam of same radiation dose) in PS by Electron spin resonance (ESR) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) methods. ESR spectra of gamma irradiated PS appeared to have resolved shapes than the electron beam …

Effect of Gamma and Electron Beam Irradiations on Crystalline and Gelatinization Properties of Edible Potato Starch
Abstract: Exposure of food material to radiation causes changes in crystalline (damage of crystal structure / lattice distortion), and gelatinization (digestive)properties. Potato starch (PS) is one of the important globally used food supplement in different forms like chips, curries, cusins etc. During its use the PS is exposed to radiations, altering its molecular structure (due to chain cleavages) and bring changes in structural and physical properties ; sometimes ill – effects …

Study of the Properties and Destructibility of the Native and Cross-Linked Potato Starch-Filled Polymer Composites for Food Packaging Applications
Abstract: Plastic is a vital component of modern life, commonly used in daily food packaging for its convenience and durability. Plastic marketing bags are manufactured from low-density polythene (LDPE) which causes ecological inconvenience as most of the plastic components are stored in waste and underground conditions for an elongated time. Plastic is a synthetic or semi-synthetic material that does not decompose naturally, and its primary drawback is its environmental impact, prompting …

Production And Purification of Amylase Through Bacterial Strain
Abstract: Amylases are important industrial enzymes with use in detergents, brewing, and food processing because of their ability to hydrolyze starch. In this research, the production and optimization of α-amylase from a potato soil isolated bacterium using agro-waste as a carbon source is investigated. The isolate had a hydrolytic zone of 13.33 mm and the highest activity of 545 U/mL under submerged fermentation with 1% starch. Optimum conditions were pH 7.0, …

Critical Overview: Preparation of Bioplastics Using Different Reinforcement Fillers
Abstract: The widespread use of synthetic plastics poses a significant threat to the environment due to their nonbiodegradable nature and reliance on nonrenewable petrochemical sources. Among these, single-use plastics are of particular concern as they are difficult to recycle efficiently. To mitigate this issue, bioplastics offer a promising alternative, as they are derived from renewable sources and are biodegradable. Bioplastics are produced using natural materials, such as plant, animal, and microbial …
