Enhancing Peptic Ulcer Therapy: Innovations in Mucoadhesive Drug Delivery
Abstract: Peptic ulcer disease is still a sincere gastrointestinal demand makes medication administration difficult because of the harsh and changing stomach environment. This paper investigates the potential of using mucoadhesive drug delivery devices to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of peptic ulcer therapies. Due to the inherent characteristics of mucoadhesive drug delivery systems, localized and sustained drug release is made possible by their extended contact and adherence to the gastrointestinal tract's …

Evaluation of Mucoadhesive Polymers for Nasal Delivery of Herbal Bioactives
Abstract: A study assessed mucoadhesive polymers for intranasal herbal bioactive administration with higher residence time and mucosal permeability. Chitosan, Carbopol® 934P, and HPMC K15M were utilized to manufacture mucoadhesive nasal gels with standardized herbal bioactive fractions. Formulations were examined for pH, viscosity, spreadability, drug content, mucoadhesive strength, in-vitro release, ex-vivo penetration, and short-term stability. All formulations demonstrated a suitable pH for nasal usage and uniform drug content (97.48 ± 1.12% to …

pH-Triggered In-Situ Nasal Gel Systems for Migraine Therapy: A Review
Abstract: Intranasal drug delivery has gained considerable attention as a non-invasive route for delivering drugs to both systemic circulation and the central nervous system, particularly for the treatment of migraine. Traditional nasal formulations such as sprays and drops often show poor therapeutic performance due to rapid mucociliary clearance and limited retention within the nasal cavity. To overcome these challenges, in-situ gel systems have been designed, which transform from a liquid to …

Floating In-Situ Gel for Gastric Retention Delivery
Abstract: When taken orally, medications with a limited window of absorption in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) are typically accessible to the extremities due to the partial release of the active component and the brief residence period at the absorption site. Because they prolong the duration of the drug's presence in the stomach, they are made with high density and have the capacity to swell. Because oral fluids go more quickly through …

Recent Trends in Ocular Drug Delivery: Challenges and Approaches
Abstract: Drug topically regulation can be accessed most easily in the eye. When given topically as eye drops, medication ocular bioavailability is quite low. Drug entry into specific ocular locations is complicated by the complex anatomy and physiology of the human eye. Research has long been interested in the topical administration of successful treatments. To provide a suitable ocular penetration and extend the duration of drug residence is their challenging task. …

Gastro Retentive Drug Target System: Its Needs, Advantages, Limitation and Approaches
Abstract: Background: Gastro retentive drug delivery systems (GRDDS) address limitations of oral therapy for drugs with poor solubility, instability at intestinal pH, or narrow absorption windows by prolonging gastric residence and increasing contact with the gastric mucosa. Objectives: To review GRDDS approaches—floating systems, mucoadhesive systems, and super porous hydrogels—with emphasis on formulation strategies and polymer–excipient selection to enhance gastric retention, modulate buoyancy/swelling/adhesion, and ultimately improve oral bioavailability and therapeutic outcomes for …

Ocular Films as a Drug Delivery System Against Fungal Infections: Current Insights and Future Directions
Abstract: Fungal infections of the eye, including keratitis, endophthalmitis, and blepharitis, represent a challenging class of ocular diseases due to their potential for vision loss and the limited efficacy of existing treatments. These infections are caused by a range of pathogenic fungi, such as Aspergillus, Candida, and Fusarium species, and often require long-term therapeutic intervention. Conventional topical antifungal therapies, such as eye drops and ointments, suffer from poor ocular bioavailability due …

Toxicological Optimization and Assessment of Buccal Films Containing Felodipine Co-crystals to Enhance Bioavailability
Abstract: The preformulation study of felodipine was carried out and it was found that the drug is poorly water soluble. The co-crystals were prepared using three different co-formers sorbitol, ascorbic acid and oxalic acid. The solublity enhancement was observed in combination with sorbitol compared to other co-formers used. The characterization of co crystals was performed like PXRD, FTIR, SEM Analysis. XRD results indicates the amorphous form of the drug. The co-crystals …

A Brief Review on Herbal Excipients
Abstract: Natural or herbal excipients are significantly more advantageous than their synthetic equivalents because they are readily available, non-toxic, and less expensive. The pharmaceutical industries are becoming more interested in using these herbal excipients – mainly polymers of natural origin – in formulation development because of growing knowledge of them. The purpose of this study is to provide light on the possibility of using natural excipients, which are biocompatible and able …
