Remote Sensing and GIS-based Analysis of Land Surface Temperature Dynamics and Land Use Changes in Vijayawada, India
Abstract: The alteration of land use/land cover (LULC) has significant environmental consequences since it is strongly linked to long-lasting land degradation and leads to diverse environmental alterations. It is crucial to monitor the locations and distributions of changes in land use and land cover (LULC) to comprehend the connections between government actions, policy choices, and resulting LULC activities. Modern systems for protecting the environment and managing natural resources now depend heavily …

Spatiotemporal Modeling of Soil Erosion Under Agricultural Expansion in the Amravati Basin, India Using RUSLE–GIS
Abstract: Agricultural expansion and soil erosion are important environmental issues in areas where agriculture is a major source of livelihood. This study analyzes the spatial and temporal patterns of soil erosion in the Amravati Basin of Maharashtra and evaluates the impact of agricultural expansion using the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) integrated with Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. Multi-source data, such as satellite imagery, rainfall records, soil characteristics, and topography …

Identification of Groundwater Potential Zone of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Tehsil Using Remote Sensing and GIS Technique
Abstract: Groundwater is one of the most vital and renewable natural resources, playing a key role in sustaining domestic, agricultural, and industrial activities, particularly in semi-arid regions like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar tehsil in Maharashtra. The growing population, rising water demand, and irregular rainfall patterns have resulted in a pressing need to locate potential groundwater zones for sustainable water management. This research employs Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to …

Seasonal Dynamics of Coastal Landscapes: A Critical Review Using Remote Sensing and GIS
Abstract: Coastal landscapes are among the most dynamic environments on Earth, undergoing continuous transformation due to both natural processes and anthropogenic activities. In India, particularly along the southern coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, shoreline morphology and sediment transport patterns are significantly influenced by seasonal monsoons, cyclones, storm surges, waves, tides, and changing river discharges. These factors contribute to varying rates of coastal erosion, accretion, inundation, and land- …

Geospatial Assessment of Land Use and Land Cover Changes in Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary, Odisha: A Twenty-Year Perspective
Abstract: Among the recorded dynamic processes on the surface of the earth is the change in land use and land cover (LULC) pattern as an outcome of several anthropogenic practices. Planning, development, and management of land for sustainable usage of land depend on plotting and tracing the vagaries in LULC. Anthropogenic activity, generally for forestry and food production, is altering the land surface. The steadily diminishing landscape also has tragic implications …

Assessing Land use Dynamics and Policies in the Waghur Basin Using Geospatial Techniques
Abstract: Changes in land use and land cover (LULC) are key indicators of human–environment interactions, especially in river basins where anthropogenic pressure is increasing. This study evaluated land use change and policy implications in the Waghur Basin, India, through a geospatial analysis of 35 years (1990–2025). Remote sensing and GIS-based supervised classification with the help of machine learning methods were applied to multi-temporal Land satellite images to create LULC maps and …

Assessing Urban Surface Runoff Management Using the SWAT Model, GIS, and the Rational Method: A Case Study of Karapakkam
Abstract: Urban surface runoff management encompasses strategies aimed at regulating rainwater flow, reducing urban flooding, enhancing groundwater recharge, and contributing to disaster risk mitigation for sustainable urban development. This study seeks to optimize surface runoff management in urban settings by using the soil and water assessment tool (SWAT) model integrated with geographic information systems (GIS) to minimize flood risks. The research focuses on the peak runoff in Karapakkam, a locality within …

Freshwater Resources in Delhi: A Decadal Analysis of Land Use Changes
Abstract: The escalating global concern over the pollution of freshwater resources, driven by the amplifying stress and scarcity of freshwater, underscores the significance of this study. The investigation examined the alterations in land use and land cover (LULC) in Delhi, concurrently assessing the coliform count in water sources designated for drinking and other purposes. LANDSAT 7 satellite imagery scrutinized the LULC changes in Delhi over a decade (2011 to 2021) to …

Spatial variations of land surface temperature and its relationship with the type of land use/cover
Abstract: Environmental parameters are intricately interdependent and affect nearby and sometimes distant components. Environmental parameters become more important when dealing directly with humans. Land surface temperature (LST) is one of the environmental parameters that when it is related to the city as the main center of human gathering, it is referred to as urban heat island (UHI). Land use/ Land cover (LU/LC) is one of the important environmental parameters that affect …
