Comparative Analysis of Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Properties of Tasar Sericin from Different Ecological Regions of India
Abstract: Sericin is a by-product of the silk industry, has gained attention for its bioactive properties, and ability to scavenge free radicals for protecting cells from oxidative damage, and different climatic conditions may influence the biochemical properties of the sericin. Thus, the present study aims to evaluate the antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of tasar sericin extracted from silkworms reared in diverse ecological regions of India. South Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha …

Evaluation of Antioxidant and Cytotoxic activities of Mycelia Biomass and Culture broth of three Edible Mushrooms, Morchella conica, Hericium erinaceus and Pleurotus florida Grown in Submerged Culture
Abstract: Mycelia biomass of three edible mushrooms namely, Morchella conica, Pleurotus florida and Hericium erinaceus were grown as submerged culture in potato dextrose broth supplemented with yeast extract, potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate and magnesium sulphate. The mycelia biomass was extracted with 70% ethanol and culture broth with ethyl acetate. The solvents were evaporated to dryness at low temperature using a rotary vacuum evaporator and the residues thus obtained were used for the …

Exploring the Bioactive Potential of Himalayan Lichens: Phytochemical and Antimicrobial Profiling of Xanthoparmelia tinctina and Pyxine subcinerea Extracts
Abstract: The symbiotic association that develops between cyanobacteria, algae, and fungi results in the composite organism known as lichens, which has traits similar to those of plants but differs in its separate parent organisms. Lichens can have a variety of morphological characteristics, including foliose structures that resemble flat leaves, crustose structures that resemble flake crystals, fruticose branches that have short, leafless branches, and leprose-powder-like appearances. Due to their therapeutic potential, lichens …

Phytochemical Screening and Biological Activity of Pomegranate Extracts
Abstract: Pomegranates are renowned for their abundance of bioactive compounds that exhibit potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, making them a subject of growing interest in natural medicine. This study aimed to compare the biological activities of ethanolic extracts derived from different parts of the pomegranate plant—specifically, the bark, peel, and leaves. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to evaluate their phytochemical composition and assess their antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. The …

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS OF A SILVER NANOPARTICLE-COATED CHITOSAN–FUCOIDAN POLYMER NANOCOMPOSITE LOADED WITH PERSEA AMERICANA LEAF EXTRACT
Abstract: Consuming a natural composite of Persea americana (Avocado) leaf extract and a chitosan and fucoidan form a biodegradable biopolymer matrix–polymer nanocomposite with biomedical applications, this study explored a potential therapeutic method. GC-MS and UV spectroscopy were used to describe the aqueous leaf extract, which was verified by phytochemical screening to contain flavonoids, tannins, phenols, terpenoids, and alkaloids. The chitosan–fucoidan biodegradable polymer matrix served as a biocompatible stabilizing and encapsulating carrier …
