A Study on Improving CBR Value by using EPE foam in Addition to GGBS Slag for Subgrade Soil
Abstract: This paper identifies the use of industrial by-product Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) as a stabilizing agent in expansive soil with high swelling property causing severe damage to buildings built on it, and this study identifies the optimal percentage of GGBS for increasing the strength of clayey soil. Using GGBS slag to improve the CBR value of subgrade soil can have potential benefits. Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) …

The Effect of Quicklime on The CBR Value of Soft Soil Stabilized with Nickel Slag and Aluminium Hydroxide
Abstract: The construction of road structures on soft soils is prone to structural damage due to the low bearing capacity of the soil under the load imposed by vehicles. Chemical stabilization is a popular method used to increase the bearing capacity of soft soils. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of soft soil stabilization using a mixture of lime, nickel slag, and aluminium hydroxide to enhance soil bearing capacity. The …

An Experimental Study on The Effect of Geopolymeric Composite Reinforcement on Soil Subgrade for Flexible Pavements
Abstract: The use of geo-synthetics, such as geotextiles, has the potential to enhance the inherent engineering and geotechnical properties of subgrade soils that exhibit poor conditions. The use of geotextiles in pavement construction has many advantages, including enhanced subgrade strength and the ability to construct flexible pavements that are both efficient and cost-effective since it reduces the pavement thickness. In the realm of flexible pavement system development, the significance of subgrade …

In-depth Evaluation of the CBR Method in Flexible Pavement Design
Abstract: The California Bearing Ratio (CBR) value of the subgrade is a crucial parameter utilized in the design of flexible pavements, as recommended by the Indian Roads Congress (IRC). The choice of materials used in constructing the pavement can significantly influence its overall design and performance. Pavements play an essential role in ensuring traffic flows smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Generally, pavements are categorized into two types: flexible and rigid. Flexible pavements …

Impact of Red Stone Dust and Polymer Fabric in Enhancing the Properties of Black Cotton Soil
Abstract: To enhance the mechanical properties of problematic black cotton soil, engineers are focusing on reinforcing the soil with geosynthetic materials. This attention is particularly directed towards improving the strength characteristics of black cotton soil, given its inherent challenges associated with volume changes and plasticity. In this comprehensive study, red stone dust waste is introduced in varying percentages ranging from 5% to 35% to stabilize the black cotton soil. The goal …

Improving Black Cotton Soil with Sodium Hydroxide and Fly Ash: An Assessment of Optimum Moisture Content, Dry Density, and California Bearing Ratio
Abstract: This study investigates the stabilization of Black Cotton Soil (BCS), an expansive clayey soil primarily composed of montmorillonite minerals, using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and fly ash. Due to its high plasticity and significant volume changes with moisture, BCS is challenging for construction purposes. Adding NaOH and fly ash can potentially improve the soil's moisture tolerance, compressibility, and reduce its plasticity, making it more suitable for structural applications. The research evaluates …

Enhancing the Strength of Black Cotton Soil with Enzyme and Industrial Waste
Abstract: Expansive soils are troublesome and prone to ground movements, which can cause substantial damage to underlying buildings as well as a loss in bearing capacity. Moisture fluctuation activates the expansive character of soils, causing it to swell and shrink. This has long been known in geotechnical engineering. To treat expansive soils, a variety of stabilizing additives such as lime, cement, and fly ash have been employed. In recent years the …

Optimization of Fly Ash and Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (FA-GBFS) Mixes for Flexible Pavements
Abstract: This study investigates the compaction, strength, and permeability characteristics of fly ash (FA) stabilized with granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) to determine the optimal mix proportions for geotechnical applications. Standard Proctor compaction, unconfined compressive strength (UCS), California Bearing Ratio (CBR), and permeability tests were conducted on FA-GBFS mixtures, with GBFS content varying from 10 to 50% by dry weight. The results indicate that increasing GBFS content enhances the maximum dry …
