Flow Structures Around Proposed Bridge Piers
Abstract: The current study investigated the flow hydrodynamics around proposed bridge pier and made comparison with existing bridge pier. To quantify the flow structures around the piers, the flow and turbulence parameters are analysed to understand the interference of one bridge pier over another. The experiments were performed on recirculating channel of 15 m length, 0.89 m width and 0.65 m height. Instantaneous three-dimensional velocity data was recorded by acoustic Doppler …

Soil Around the Pier Below the Bed Level of River
Abstract: This study presents the evaluation of vertical and lateral loads acting on a bridge pier–pedestal system subjected to self-weight and vehicular loading. The pier, having a height of 25 m, length of 20 m, and thickness of 1 m, was found to carry a self-weight of 1200 t. When combined with a vehicular load of 2000 t, the total vertical load on the pier becomes 3200 t. Considering lateral force …

Analysis for Pier of Railway Bridge
Abstract: The load-bearing capacity of a pier is determined by the combined effects of the load from the train and the self-weight of the girder it supports. The bending of the pier is influenced by its height, which necessitates a careful assessment of the pier's thickness across various girder spans and pier heights. This evaluation ensures that the pier can withstand the imposed loads while adhering to permissible deflection limits. By …

Safety of Foundation of Building
Abstract: The design of a building's foundation requires careful consideration of the load intensity applied from the structure above. To ensure stability and safety, the foundation depth must be sufficient to support the loads effectively. For residential buildings, where the loads are relatively lower, a foundation base size of 2.5 × 2.5 meters or 3 × 3 meters is typically adequate. In contrast, for structures with significantly higher loads, such as …
