Needle Choice in Spinal Anaesthesia: Is the 25-Gauge Whitacre Superior to the Quincke in Reducing Post-Dural Puncture Headache
Abstract: The process known as endotracheal intubation involves inserting a synthetic tube into the trachea and inflating the former's cuff to create an airtight seal. Of all the specialised masks in the LMA family, the PLMA is the most intricate. The cuff, the airway tube, the drain (gastric access) tube, and the inflation line with pilot balloon are its four primary components. This drain tube aids in identifying mask malposition and …

A Systematic Review on Coronary Heart Disease: A Transient Ischemic Stroke
Abstract: Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) and Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) are significant cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disorders that often share similar risk factors and underlying pathophysiological processes. CHD involves the narrowing or obstruction of the coronary arteries due to atherosclerosis, resulting in diminished blood flow to the heart. A transient ischemic attack (TIA), often called a "mini stroke," occurs when blood flow to the brain is briefly disrupted, usually due to a …

Fabrication and Multi scale Characterization of Functionally Graded Composites Reinforced with Hybrid Ceramic–Metallic Phases
Abstract: Using composite materials as functionally graded composites (FGM) can improve its excellent material properties. In this work, magnesium peroxide, silicon carbide, and aluminum are used to create four-layer FGMs. The sintering process, which blends the particles of each material using a powder methodology, has been used to complete the fabrication process. Three factors, including sintering time, sintering temperature, and compacting pressure, are taken into account when fabricating FGM. The FGM …

Prediction of Depth-Induced Stress Distribution and Maintenance Cost Implications for Submerged Structural Components
Abstract: This study investigates the influence of water depth on stress distribution and structural integrity of submerged mechanical components . Structural models fabricated from mild steel, stainless steel, carbon steel, and copper alloy were examined under hydrostatic loading corresponding to water depths between 30 cm and 150 cm. Results indicate that normal and shear stresses increased proportionally with depth due to intensified hydrostatic pressure. Mild steel exhibited the highest stress concentrations, …

Systolic-Predominant Hypertension and the Aging Heart: A Cross-Sectional Study on LVH and Cardiovascular Riskss
Abstract: Background: Systolic-predominant hypertension, defined as a systolic blood pressure ≥140 mm Hg with diastolic pressure <90 mm Hg, is the most prevalent form of hypertension in the elderly. It arises primarily due to age-related arterial stiffening and baroreceptor dysfunction. Once considered a benign outcome of aging, systolic-predominant hypertension is now recognized as a major risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Aim and Objective: To evaluate the cardiac status and …

Enhancement in Heat Transfer Rate of Plate Fin Heat Exchanger using Triangular Winglets
Abstract: AbstractHeat transfer enhancement in heat exchanger leads to higher saving in terms of manufacturing and operational costs. However, parameter pertaining to pressure drops needs to be effectively analyzed so as to make a balance between pressure drop and effectiveness against the operation costs. This paper focuses on the use of triangular winglets in plate fin heat exchangers to enhance the rate of heat transfer. An obstacle is provided in the …

Optimization of Roof angle for Sloping Roof Buildings under Extreme Wind Conditions
Abstract: A downburst that occurs during a thunderstorm is a strong downward current of wind which comes down with high speed from the cloud level and hits the ground. After hitting the ground it spreads radially outward in all directions. These are generally destructive in nature. There are evidences of downburst causing extensive damages to buildings, electrical installations etc. In India thunderstorms often occur during pre-monsoon and post-monsoon seasons particularly in …

Bearing Capacity of Double Box Shaped Skirted Footings on Sand
Abstract: The double-box-shaped footing with and without skirt and sand-resting pressure settlement behavior was discussed in this paper. Different parameters are normalised skirt depth (0.25 to 1.5), relative sand density (30 to 60 percent) and sand footing interface state (partially rough and rough). Results of this study showed that a general and local shear failure was observed at a relative density of 50 percent and 60 percent, and 30 percent and …

Carbon dioxide injection to remove shale gas from sedimentary clayey schists
Abstract: This paper proposes an alternative method to the fracking technique to obtain shale gas, injecting compressed carbon dioxide in the subsoil. The injection of a pressurized gas like carbon dioxide into a porous media provokes the removal of existing gas into the pores, provided the pressure of the injected gas is high enough. The design of the adequate geotechnical structure makes it possible to inject pressurized carbon dioxide and extract …

Effect of Isothermal Ageing on Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of 0.5Cr-0.5Mo-0.2V Low Alloy Steel
Abstract: Cr-Mo-V based low alloy steels are widely used in thermal power plants because of their ability to withstand elevated temperature and high pressure under continuous operation. With ferrite-pearlite and/or ferrite-bainite microstructures, these steels find their applications in boiler tubes, pressure vessels and steam turbines. Being cost effective is one of the important factors, which draws attention of many industrialists towards low alloyed steels over highly alloyed steels with austenitic matrix. …
