Characterization of Bamboo-Fiber Reinforced Geopolymer Composites
Abstract: In this project, we plan to produce and assess a new, eco-friendly composite made from geopolymer (from a combination of fly ash and GGBFS), strengthened with chemically treated bamboo fibres for retrofitting earthquake-resistant buildings. Geopolymer is produced by activating a mixture of fly ash and GGBFS with sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide solutions. We have produced and analyzed bamboo fibre-reinforced geopolymer composites as potential materials for seismic retrofitting of structures …

Indigenous Technique of Biochar Production and Effect of Biochar Application on the Geotechnical Properties of the Expansive Soils
Abstract: Expansive soils have been a source of risk to human beings as they causes huge economic loss including damage to buildings, roads and other civil infrastructures because of their low compressive strength and excessive settlement characteristics. One of the available options is to replace such soils before starting any civil engineering construction but looking to huge costs involved in replacement; it is generally not practiced nowadays. Another viable alternative is …

Use of Additives in Soil Stabilization
Abstract: Soil stabilization is a ground improvement technique through which soil is made strong enough to bear the structures load. The swell-shrink properties of expansive soils can be reduced and made useful for construction purposes using various stabilizing materials like cement, lime, fly ash, chemicals, etc. Cement stabilization causes environmental pollution. Microbial-induced carbonate precipitation and enzymatic-induced carbonate precipitation methods can be considered as innovative methods in place of cement soil stabilization. …

Improving Highway Surface Course Properties of Asphalt Concrete for Heavy Traffic Loading using Mineral Fillers
Abstract: Failure signs seen on both rigid and flexible pavement as distresses is most often instigated by mix properties of the surface due to many factors. Traffic loading, Stripping or raveling is another possible cause of such effects. Stripping occurs when poor adhesion between asphalt cement and aggregate allows the aggregate at the surface to dislodge. As a result, mineral fillers in hot-mix asphalt concrete to obtain certain desirable properties has …

Effects of Trayodashang Guggulu and Janu Basti in Janu Sandhigata Vata
Abstract: AbstractHuman body is composed of seven dhatus. The fifth one is asthi dhatu sequentially. Whole body resides on asthi dhatu. Vata is situated in asthi as ashraya-ashrayi (interrelated) bhava. Vitiation of vata and kapha dosha in joints produces sandhigatavata. It is an abnormal stage. It is a degenerative disorder in which degeneration of asthi dhatu in the joints occurs normally in the fourth or fifth decade. The treatment comprises of …

Performance of Concrete in Chemically Aggressive Environment by Using Cementitious Materials in Concrete
Abstract: This study investigates the performance and durability of sustainable concrete incorporating industrial and agricultural waste materials specifically Fly Ash, nano silica and Graphene Oxide when subjected to chemically aggressive environments. Traditional Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) concrete often suffers from micro-structural degradation, sulfate attack, and acid penetration in harsh conditions. However, the integration of pozzolanic wastes creates a synergistic effect that densifies the concrete matrix through secondary C-S-H (Calcium Silicate Hydrate) …

ENHANCING THE STRENGTH OF BLACK COTTON SOIL WITH ENZYME AND INDUSTRIAL WASTE
Abstract: Expansive soils are troublesome and prone to ground movements, which can cause substantial damage to underlying buildings as well as a loss in bearing capacity. Moisture fluctuation activates the expansive character of soils, causing it to swell and shrink. This has long been known in geotechnical engineering. To treat expansive soils, a variety of stabilizing additives such as lime, cement, and fly ash have been employed. In recent years the …
