Comparison between Generalized Least Square Method and Quantile Regression in Dealing with Heteroscedastic Data
Abstract: Heteroscedastic data arise from a population whose sub-populations have different variabilities from one another. In presence of heteroscedasticity, the OLS estimators no longer remain the BLUEs, giving rise to wider acceptance regions and confidence intervals for the model parameters. The generalized least square technique, specifically weighted least square method is the conventional way of eliminating heteroscedasticity. However, quantile regression can also be used in dealing with this kind of data. …

Estimation of Population Mean Using Ratio cum Product Imputation Techniques in Sample Survey
Abstract: In this paper, three generalized classes of ratio cum product compromised imputation techniques in single phase sampling scheme and its properties have been studied. Their mean square error (MSE) expressions and percentage relative efficiency (PRE) are compared with the sample mean, ratio, compromised and Ahmed method of imputation in case of missing data, and necessary conditions are derived. Further, theoretical results have been verified through empirical studies with the help …

Multi-layer Perceptron Ensemble for Estimation of Available Transfer Capability in Deregulated Environment
Abstract: The available transfer capability (ATC) estimation problem can be considered as a unique answered puzzle to be solved with highly nonlinear complexity of power systems and the uncertain state of the energy market. To implement the open access in deregulated markets, system operator should post ATC at a small and regular interval on openly accessible network. This forces the quick computation of ATC of transmission path. In these situations, the …

Mean Edge Estimation in Population of Planar Graph Using Stratified Sampling Procedure
Abstract: When stratified sampling is used then the population has the capacity to be grouped on thebasis of certain characteristics. Generally in survey sampling the respondents are individualpersons and they are physically unlinked. Consider a situation of graphical structure wherenodes and edges are the main constituents and if somebody wants to estimate the averagelength of edges between two nodes then it is a problem under usual sampling setup. Thispaper assumes the …
