Exploring Lightweight and Earthquake-resistant Construction with Ferrocement Sandwich Panels
Abstract: The creation of sandwich panels made of ferrocement as non-load-bearing building components is examined in this study. The sandwich panels had one layer of wire mesh netting between two thin pieces of ferrocement for reinforcement. Two thin ferrocement layers strengthened with a thermocol sheet made up the sandwich sections. The two iron lattice sections were connected by steel wires. Three sandwich panels in total were made. Compared to traditional masonry …

Mining of the River Bed and Environmental Consequences
Abstract: Due to tremendous rate of demand, by the year 2050, the world is expected to run out of construction grade sand. Construction-grade sand is found in aquatic environments, such as rivers and is a provisioning ecosystem service. Even under controlled circumstances, the practice of extracting the sand from the riverbed and river-banks impacts the environment. Unfortunately, many countries lack sand mining regulation policies and in combination with a high demand, …

Sustainable High-Strength Concrete: A Study on M60 Mixes with Alccofine as Supplementary Cementitious Material
Abstract: Concrete, which combines cement, water, aggregates, and admixtures to create a flexible material that solidifies into stone-like strength, is the foundation of contemporary building. Because of its versatility, it can be used for anything from pavements to skyscrapers, but typical mixes require large amounts of cement, which increases manufacturing costs and CO2 emissions. This study investigates the use ofAlccofine 1203, a powder made from ultrafine slag, as a partial substitute …

Early Postoperative Outcome of Primary Closure versus T-Tube Drainage of Common Bile Duct after Open Choledocholithotomy
Abstract: Background: Choledocholithiasis is the formation of stones in the common bile duct (CBD). These stones are removed by performing CBD exploration and the closure can be done over T-tube or primarily without T-tube. The method of T-tube drainage comes with many complications and hence, nowadays, there is tendency to close CBD primarily to avoid the tube-related complications. Aims: To compare the early postoperative outcome of primary closure versus T-tube drainage …
