A Factorial Investigation of Hyperparameter Tuning Strategies for Lasso- Based Genomic Prediction
Abstract: In an earlier comparative study of machine-learning methods for genomic prediction of wheat grain yield, we reported a counter-intuitive result: automated nested-cross-validation tuning of the Lasso regularization penalty reduced mean predictive ability relative to a fixed, arbitrarily chosen penalty (mean Pearson r falling from 0.408 to 0.349 across four environments), the opposite of the expected effect of hyperparameter tuning. We hypothesized two possible explanations at the time — high-variance penalty …

A Correct and Simple Method of Writing PFC Codes
Abstract: Data compression (DC) is thriftiness in conveying information and is akin to précise that is, the goal is to convey the same or essential information using fewer resources. In electronic engineering, it occupies an important place because it reduces the size/amount of (i) memory required to store information just like précis reduces the size of an article; (ii) bandwidth required to transmit the information—just as less number of passengers means …

Research on Adversarial Disturbance Based on Meteorological Time Series Data
Abstract: When the deep learning model is used to predict time series data, it is easy to be adversarially attacked. The time series data is sensitive to the abnormal disturbance and has strict requirements on the disturbance amount. To solve these problems, we propose to generate adversarial time series by adding disturbance terms to the original time series, and design an adversarial attack algorithm based on the importance measure (AAIM in …

Effect of TMT Bar Lugging on Steel Reinforcement Failure Mode under Monotonic Loading
Abstract: Thermo-mechanically treated (TMT) ribbed bars modify the overall progress of failure in reinforced concrete. The ribs maintain anchorage after friction on the rest of the bar is eliminated during deformation, taking up the ultimate compressive load. This however, is inadvertently jeopardized by the stress concentration effect of the rib geometry. This paper analyses the extent to which some of the geometric forms of bar lugging affect the prevalence of ductile …

An Overview of Pharmacopoeial Status of Ayurvedic, Unani and Siddha Drugs
Abstract: Ayurvedic, Unani and Siddha Pharmacopoeia are part of regulatory framework of Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940. In these pharmacopoeia, single drugs (plant, mineral and metal origin) and classical compound formulations are incorporated to provide statutory standards. Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India Part I (Vols. I–VIII) consists of 590 monographs on single drugs (plant, mineral, metal and extracts) and Part II (Vols. I–III) consists of 152 monographs on ayurvedic classical formulations. Unani …

Steel corrosion about application of inhibitors
Abstract: In chronology of prevention of irreversible degradation of metals, inhibitors to corrosion have studied to inhibit use of toxic inhibitors. Prevention of toxic inhibitors has further studied to explore non-toxic inhibitors prepared from biological origins, e.g. plant originated or underwater organisms or expired drugs. Toxic organic inhibitors are further studied to select those in which toxicity is removed by dilution of processing chemical. If water pipelines are considered use of …

Kanuri in Diaspora: A Historical Survey
Abstract: The study of place names which typically refers to the form of a place, its geographical quality, its situation in relation to water, its position, its flora or its fauna, often refers also to human uses to which the land was put; they commemorate events, or they are named after deities. Toponymic studies not only illustrate ethnic settlements but can also help identify discrete periods of the immigrations of people …

Determination of Crystalline Planes and Directions in Cubic System
Abstract: AbstractA new method to draw the planes in cubic crystal system has been introduced. According to this method, it is very convenient to draw the planes along negative directions. The origin for the plane along all the directions can be identified easily by referring the standard table given in the text. After referring various technical papers, journals and textbooks it is noticed that there is no definite method and proper …

Extractive Text Summarization: An Application Based Study
Abstract: Text summarization is an essential tool for extracting important information from lengthy texts or documents. Text Summarization has two main methodologies namely: Extractive Summarization and Abstractive Summarization. This study concentrates on extractive summarising, which selects significant sentences straight from the source material to create a summary. It is a popular option for many practical applications since it frequently produces summaries that are more accurate in terms of substance. In abstractive …
