Extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and Metallo-beta-lactamases (MBLs): A Review
Abstract: Gram-negative bacteria produce extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and metallo-beta-lactamases (MBLs), enzymes that play a crucial role in antibiotic resistance. These enzymes enable the bacteria to withstand a wide array of beta-lactam antibiotics, including penicillins, cephalosporins, and carbapenems. The production of these enzymes, particularly by organisms, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, complicates treatment options for severe infections, leading to increased morbidity and mortality in clinical settings. ESBLs are primarily responsible …

Design of Dual Media Water Filter Purifier Using Clay Pot
Abstract: Numerous organisations make low-cost water treatment devices for rural homes, for instance filters, RO and UV-based water purifiers. However, these devices have problems like filter clogging, the need to replace filters frequently water contamination (in the case of RO), and the truth that electricity is not always available in rural areas, which makes them costly to use. Because of this, RO and UV purifiers are too expensive for people who …

Mechanism of Action of Essential Oils and their Major Components
Abstract: The essential oil of lemongrass, palm rosa and eucalyptus were found to be good antimicrobial agents. To a large extent the results suggest their potential use as chemotherapeutic agents, food preserving agents, and disinfectants. However before considering these compounds as chemotherapeutic agents against human/animal diseases, it is important to study their cytotoxic and mutagenic effects. Studies were then carried to investigate the probable mechanism by which these compounds act against …

Synthesis and antibacterial studies of some bivalent transition metal ions Zn (II), Cu (II) and Ni (II) complexes of Schiff’s base derived from some substituted aromatic aldehydes.
Abstract: In this study, Schiff bases were synthesised through the condensation of aromatic aldehydes with primary amines and subsequently complexed with Ni(II),Zn(II) and Cu(II) ions. The formation of the metal complexes was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy, which identified the key functional groups involved in coordination. The biological activity of the prepared compounds were studied with the help of selected bacteria like E. coli , Pseudomonas. and B. sereus.. The results obtained …

Synthesis, Characterization of New Imidazolidin-4-One Containing Azo Compound Derived from Acetylacetone as Antibacterial and Antioxidant Agents
Abstract: In the present study, new derivatives of imidazolidine-4-one was prepared. Which involved reactions to diazonium salt of o-methoxy aniline with acetylacetone in the presence of sodium hydroxide, and isolating the azo compound as a brown precipitate. The azo diketone reacts efficiently with aromatic amine derivatives to produce Schiff bases as a light yellow and dark brown precipitates, and from this Schiff bases three derivatives of imidazolidine-4-one was prepared by reacting …
