Inverse Model for Predicting Thermal Abnormality of the Transient Process Triggered by Defective Electronics Element
Abstract: The paper presents a model for predicting thermal abnormalities in Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) by approximating the thermal process of electric elements with heating from point sources. Circuit board heat sources are defined as point and non-point. The point heat source is a small electronic heating element that can be approximated as having originated from one point on the circuit board. A non-point source is one with heat distributed over …

A Factorial Investigation of Hyperparameter Tuning Strategies for Lasso- Based Genomic Prediction
Abstract: In an earlier comparative study of machine-learning methods for genomic prediction of wheat grain yield, we reported a counter-intuitive result: automated nested-cross-validation tuning of the Lasso regularization penalty reduced mean predictive ability relative to a fixed, arbitrarily chosen penalty (mean Pearson r falling from 0.408 to 0.349 across four environments), the opposite of the expected effect of hyperparameter tuning. We hypothesized two possible explanations at the time — high-variance penalty …

Image Registration–Implementation and Performance Analysis using Log-polar Transformation
Abstract: This paper presents an image registration algorithm for affine motion recovery. The images which are to be registered may be misaligned due to rotation, scale and translation the algorithm presented in the paper estimates affine transformation parameters to register this images. The parameters are computed using a variation of the Levenberg-Marquadt nonlinear least squares optimization method in a coarse-to-fine hierarchical framework. To precisely registers images with subpixel accuracy this method …

Thevenin and Norton Resistance Using Time Domain Analyses Using Spice Simulations
Abstract: Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits are of interest to circuit simulation designers and researchers. For the Thevenin resistance and Norton conductance determination of a network with available circuit theorems, the substitution network theorem (applied to OrCAD, SPICE, and Pspice AD simulation project) is shown to be suitable with the SPICE/ Pspice circuit simulation software. Instead of the DC option, the transient analyses option of SPICE is used to determine Thevenin/Norton …

Performance Evaluation of Sliding Mode, Fuzzy Logic and PID Controllers for Twin Rotor MIMO System
Abstract: In twin-rotor MIMO system, two-different rotors need to be controlled by taking the impact of one rotor on the another leading to couplings. Due to the cross-coupling effects between main rotor and tail rotor of twin-rotor MIMO system, its regulation is a challenging task. The state-variable models of the Twin-rotor MIMO system are discussed in detail. The vertical and horizontal equivalent sub-systems are obtained using the above state-variable formulation taking …
