Role of Filler-Polymer Interface on the Thermal Conductivity in Polymer Composites
Abstract: Polymers with high thermal conductivity are the need of modern technologies due to their robustness, cost-effective, and less corrosiveness. However, bare polymers are not good heat-conductors due to their molecular structures, and their non-metallic properties. Therefore, metallic fillers of different shape and size have been used to enhance the thermal conductivity in polymer-composites. However, there has been search of best geometrical fillers which can maximize the thermal conductivity effectively with …

Ultimate Moment Capacity of Polypropylene Fibers Reinforced Concrete Beams
Abstract: The flexural behavior of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete, plain concrete beams with and withoutreinforcement was investigated. The reinforcement, volume ratio of polypropylene fiber and surface type ofpolypropylene fiber kept constant for all the beams. All beams had the same dimensions and tested under twopoint loads. The results showed that polypropylene fibers were effective in reducing the crack width and crackpropagation. The results also showed that while polypropylene fibers had only …

Flame Spraying of Polymer-Abrasive Composites
Abstract: Polymer-based abrasive tools are distinguished by higher elasticity and resistance to chemically active media compared to tools with metal and ceramic binders. The former are effective at processing complex-profile and non-rigid surfaces. Tools based on coatings containing abrasive phenol- formaldehyde/epoxy resins and vulcanites are characterized by high cost and toxicity. In this paper, a study of composite flame-sprayed coatings, consisting of thermoplastic polymers and silicon carbide (volume ratio of 50-50), …
