Forecasting Heavy Metal Level on the Basis of Acidification Trend in the Major Estuarine System of Indian Sundarbans
Abstract: The authors present here the temporal oscillations of aquatic pH, zinc (Zn), copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) in the ambient media of Hooghly estuary of Indian Sundarbans and forecast values of these variables in response to acidification phenomenon. The forecast has been done on the basis of 30 years of real-time data (1984–2013). The exponentialsmoothening-based forecast reflects the gradual lowering of pH in the estuarine water that has considerable impact …

Role of Winopause – A Multi-Herbal Product in the Treatment of Menopausal Syndrome
Abstract: In this study, Winopause has been found to be highly effective in the treatment of menopausal syndrome. There was significant response in hot flushes, irritability, insomnia, palpitation, pruritus valvae and social interaction parameters. This response of Winopause could be due to the presence of phytoestrogens in the formulations. The drug was found to be effective and safe and no adverse effect was observed in any patient. Keywords: Menopause, Winopause, Asoka, …

Characterizing the Existence of P4
Abstract: In a graph G = (V, E) P4 denotes a path of length 4 vertices <v1, v2, v3, v4> such that there is no edge between either <v1, v3> or <v2, v4>. This exists either in graph G = (V, E) or its complement or both for which both G and the complement Gc are connected. In this article we give a proof for this property.

Maxillary Advancement by Distraction Osteogenesis in Maxillary Hypoplasia
Abstract: Cleft lip and palate patients (CLP) are borne with a challenging deformity that requires multiple surgical interventions in order to reach functional and esthetic harmony. Distraction osteogenesis has become a widely used treatment of maxillary hypoplasia in CLP-patients because of the reports of better stability and the possibility for larger advancements. We report our treatment experience with a 19 year old cleft lip and palate female patient, presented with maxillary …

A high Regulated Low Ripple DC Power Supply based on LC Filter and IGBT
Abstract: Filaments operating at a high temperature region would require ripple free current constant power source for their heating purposes. Introduction of ripple in the power supply would result in high power loss, aberrant, unpredictable temperature rise etc. High current ripple can also extenuate the life of electrolytic capacitors used in the circuit. In this paper we propose a scheme in which we would not only use simple, low cost, easily …

Bioaccumulation Pattern of Heavy Metals in Saltmarsh Grass (Porteresia coarctata) of Indian Sundarbans
Abstract: Heavy metals (Zn, Cu and Pb) in saltmarsh grass tissue inhabiting Indian Sundarbans were studied during 2011–12. The selected heavy metals in the present study area originate from municipal and industrial sources. Samples from three different sites of deltaic Sundarbans were analyzed for selected heavy metals by AAS (atomic absorption spectrophotometer). The mean values of heavy metal concentrations were highest in Zn (68.17 ± 12.11 to 112.67 ± 30.17 in …

Simulation and Analysis of UPFC for Power Transmission
Abstract: The complexity of the power system grows hand in hand with the growth in power transfers which leads to system becoming less secure to ride through outages. Large power flows with inadequate control, excessive reactive power, dynamic swings between different parts of the system and bottlenecks reduce the potential of the transmission interconnections. With the increase in demand for power, has in fact increased the complexity of the power system, …

Warning Bell of Climate Change in the Lower Gangetic Delta
Abstract: AbstractClimate change and subsequent temperature rise, sea level rise and acidification are the major threats to mangrove ecosystem of the world. Several researchers observed through short term and long term experiments, that climate change induced fluctuations of temperature, salinity and pH pose a serious threat to the coastal ecosystem. In this article, three basic indicators of climate change have been selected in the frame of Indian Sundarbans namely surface water …

HYDROTROPES IN SOAP FLOTATION: A CRITICAL REVIEW
Abstract: In this study efficiency of soap flotation when the hydrotrope was used along with the flotation reagents especially collectors for different type of minerals is reviewed. It is known that for flotation of salt type minerals soaps are used as collectors. The soap collectors when used along with hydrotropes as promoters in flotation yielded better flotation efficiency along with the reduced usage of collectors (soaps). Hydrotropes the compounds that soulibilises …

Loss of Carbon Credit through Radical Change in Land Use Pattern
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Coastal vegetations comprise the blue carbon community of the planet Earth. The community is known for its carbon sequestering potential since long evolutionary period of time. However, rapid industrialization and urbanization have changed the landscape and land use pattern in the coastal zone that has significantly hampered the carbon storage potential of coastal producer community. It is thus a challenge of …

Study of an Improved Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization-Based Framework for Neural Network Optimization in Modelling of Polymer Data
Abstract: The accurate forecasting of polymer viscosity at various physicochemical conditions has been quite critical due to the nonlinear interactions and interrelations between the variables. This paper suggests a better hybrid modelling framework, which involves the use of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and more advanced versions of Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization (QPSO) to better predict polymer viscosity. The input parameters taken are, namely, log (shear rate), polymer concentration, NaCl concentration, Ca …
