Performance Evaluation of Hybrid Polymer Composite Materials for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding in Flexible and Wearable Electronic Devices
Abstract: Wearable electronic devices require novel hybrid polymer composites that offer flexible, lightweight and highly effective EMI shielding characteristics. The development and characterization of flexible polymer composites combining hard magnetic nanoparticles and electrically conductive fillers are explored. The suitability of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and epoxy resins for use as EMI shielding composite matrices was evaluated in terms of their flexibility, stability and biocompatibility. Hybrid filler systems were developed to …

Experimental Analysis and Predictive Modeling of Mechanical Behavior in Epoxy Composites Reinforced with Waste Tyre Rubber Particles
Abstract: The disposal of end-of-life tyres poses a significant environmental and resource challenge owing to their large volumes and non-biodegradable nature. In this work, we explore the incorporation of waste tyre rubber particles (WTRP) into an epoxy resin matrix to develop sustainable polymer composites and examine their mechanical behavior both experimentally and through predictive modelling. Composites with differing epoxy: WTRP ratios (80:20, 75:25, 70:30 wt.%) and varying rubber particle mesh sizes …

Thermal and Microstructural Evaluation of Natural-Glass Fiber Hybrid Composites: Sustainable Alternatives to Synthetic Materials
Abstract: The scope of engineering requirements for composite materials, which mix features from several elements engaged in engineering applications to enable greater performance, cannot be adequately understood in this way. The most recent of these materials are hybrid composites, which combine synthetic and natural fibers, particularly glass fibers, and are anticipated to create new, promising materials in terms of their ties to cost, performance, and consistency. From the perspective of their …

Fabrication and Testing of Physical Behavior of Coconut Shell Micro Particulate and Walnut Shell Micro Particulate Reinforced Epoxy Composites
Abstract: Enhancing the physical characteristics of high-performance materials is largely dependent on the reinforcement of polymers by microparticles. The physical behavior of polyester composites containing coconut and walnut shell microparticles was thus investigated in order to create an engineering material for industrial use. Most researchers investigated the flammability test of fiber bio-composites only. There is a possibility that two particular polymers embedded in a thermoset polymer matrix could provide the lowest …

Tailoring Toughness of Pineapple Leaf Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy Composites Using Halloysite Nanotubes
Abstract: This comprehensive study investigates the effects of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) on the impact strength and fracture toughness of pineapple leaf fabric-reinforced epoxy (PALF/Ep) composites with an emphasis on sustainable material development. ASTM D256 and ASTM D5045 standards were followed in the fabrication of the composites. HNT weight percentages were systematically changed from 0 to 3wt% through using solution mixing and manual lay-up techniques, and vacuum bagging was used to obtain …

Mechanical Property Assessment of Hybrid Composite Laminates Composed of Jute Glass Fibers in Combination with Flax, Hemp, Sisal and Kenaf Fibers Using the Hand Layup Technique
Abstract: The present work compares the properties of various hybrid composite laminates manufactured using the hand layup technique and addresses their production process, based on glass fiber as the exterior layer and natural fibers (flax, hemp, kenaf, jute, and sisal) as interior layers, in an epoxy resin. Five stacking sequences A-GJJJJG, B-GFJJFG, C-GHJJHG, D-GKJJKG, and E-GJSSJG were used to prepare the test specimens. According to ASTM guidelines, experiments were performed to …

Development and Evaluation of Hybrid Natural Fiber Composites
Abstract: Natural fiber based polymer composites are becoming more common because they are cheap, sustainable, and operate effectively across mechanical and environmental settings. Natural fibers (NFs) like bamboo and roselle are being used to strengthen polymer composites. They are being used in textiles, medical equipment construction, and car making. People are becoming more interested in these fibers because of the unique properties. Bamboo fiber is an effective option for reinforcement in …
