Nanostructure-Induced Thermoelectric Enhancement in Bi₂Te₃ Nanorods Design, Analysis, and Performance Evaluation
Abstract: Thermoelectric materials capable of efficient energy conversion near room temperature are critical for waste heat recovery applications. In this work, solution-grown Bi₂Te₃ nanorods were synthesized via a trioctylphosphine-assisted thermal decomposition route, and the influence of surfactant-induced nanostructuring on their thermoelectric properties was systematically investigated. Structural analysis using X-ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement confirmed the formation of rhombohedral Bi₂Te₃ with the emergence of Bi₂Te₃–BiTe nanocomposites at higher surfactant concentrations. Mechanisms of Crystal Growth: From Spiral Steps to Surface Adhesion
Abstract: Crystal growth is a complex interplay between thermodynamic stability and kinetic processes, influenced heavily by the conditions under which crystallization occurs—particularly the degree of supersaturation. This abstract outline three principal regimes of solution-grown crystal growth: defect-driven, two-dimensional, and adhesive growth. At low supersaturation, growth is facilitated at surface defects, such as screw dislocations, where energy barriers to attachment are minimized. This results in the formation of spiraling steps that propagate …

Polymeric Coating Applied for Corrosion Protection of Mild Steel in Corrosive Medium
Abstract: Mild steel is coated with a polymer layer of polybutadiene for protection. However, this coating does not effectively safeguard the metal in environments containing moisture, sulphur dioxide, or chloride. These pollutants interact with the polybutadiene-coated surface, creating a highly corrosive atmosphere. Moisture condenses on the coated metal surface and absorbs sulphur dioxide, forming sulphuric acid. This acid initiates both chemical and electrochemical reactions with the polymer-coated metal, accelerating the corrosion …
