A Review of Business Process Re-engineering with Focus on Critical Success and Failure Factors
Abstract: This paper presents a literature review of business process re-engineering (BPR). Although there are a number of BPR articles in the literature, there is still lack of literature review in this field that focuses on the success and failure factors behind implementing BPR. The drive of this review is to gain a basic as well as greater understanding of the critical success and failure factors in implementing BPR. In doing …

A Model of Bidding in Rotating Saving Credit Associations
Abstract: The paper analyzes bidding behavior in discount bidding Roscas under the assumption of risk neutrality. Roscas are group based revolving financial schemes. In discount bidding Roscas, individuals bid for a lumpsum. We find that bids submitted by members in equilibrium are increasing in the returns or opportunities for investment. Further, members submit lower bids when credit is available outside Rosca at expensive rates. A bidding Rosca is efficient as an …

Study of Influence of Corrosion and Cracking on Bond Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Member
Abstract: Reinforced concrete, as composite material has occupied special place in the modern construction of different type of structure. Reinforced concrete is inherently durable and near maintenance free construction material. Service life of reinforced concrete structure can be significantly reduced when the corrosion of reinforcing steel is initiated; the product of corrosion expands and occupies greater volume than original volume of steel, eventually causes cracking of concrete. The composite action of …

Morphological and Dielectric Relaxation Responses of Polymer Stabilized Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Composite Films
Abstract: Polymer-stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal (GH-PSFLC) composite films have been prepared by polymerization-induced phase separation (PIPS) process as a function of polymer concentration. Epoxy polymer was homogeneously dispersed into FLC host matrix to create fibril network in the composite films. Twisted fibril-like network was observed through polarizing optical microscope through transmission mode. Dielectric relaxation spectroscopy of these composites shows that real part of permittivity decreases with polymer concentration. Goldstone relaxation mode …

Acetoxylation of o, m Cresol by Electrochemical Process at Graphite Electrode
Abstract: Electrochemical processes remain unique because of the nature of specific products formed and their mode of formation in which current is a reactive input in place of redox reagents. The high yields of the products can be obtained by designing and optimizing the electrolysis. The ordinary chemical procedures are multi-staged and may result poor yields. Therefore the best way for minimizing the pollution is transformation of conventional chemical processes to …

Performance of Integral Bridge by Addition of Cross Girders
Abstract: The bridges without expansion joints are Integral Abutment bridges (IAB’s). In conventional bridges, the bearings are generally corroded due to water seepage through joints which are avoided in IAB’s. However there will be stresses developed due to thermal induced movements of the bridge which is to be taken into account. In this paper, finite element analysis is carried out using STAAD ProV8i on a typical model of IAB. Here various …

The Influence of Sediment Deposits in the Threshold Criteria of Sediment Movement in Rigid Boundary
Abstract: An effort is made to develop a simplified methods for the estimation of bed shear stress for rigid boundary for initiation of sediment motion using different bed thickness, bed slopes and different sediment particles diameters (ranging between (0.5mm < d50 < 4.78). The findings were compared with the earlier studies demonstrating that critical shear parameter value for fixed beds is less than the reported values in literature. This come in …

Smart Dustbin with Scrap Crusher for Office Premises
Abstract: AbstractWaste management has become a vital issue today. Daily observation has shown that waste often gets accumulated due to irregular removal of waste from the dustbin. A solution to such a problem is a ‘Smart Dustbin’. This will help to overcome the negligence either shown by people to throw the waste in dustbin or by the authorities to clear the dustbin at regular interval of time. The smart dustbin has …

Detection of Criminal Traces during Forced Iris Authentication
Abstract: AbstractAlthough iris recognition system is considered as most robust, hard to counterfeit and the most secure system of biometric authentication. However the existing system fails to detect a forced authentication which might be misused by criminals to unlock the user's account. In this paper we examine the conditions in which a real user is forcibly presented in front of iris scanner on gun point to unlock the account. In this …

Growth, XRD, FTIR and Second Order NLO studies of Undoped and Zinc Sulphate doped L-Histidine Single Crystals
Abstract: AbstractSingle crystals of pure (undoped) L-histidine and Zinc sulphate doped L-histidine have been synthesized and grown by slow evaporation method using water as the solvent. These grown crystals are characterized by FTIR, XRD and SHG. From Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectral analysis, the various functional groups present in the sample have been confirmed. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) study ensures that the grown crystal crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and the …

Light straightening, super-collimation, strong beaming, extraordinary refraction and splitting in Photonic Crystals
Abstract: This paper reviews light straightening, super-collimation, strong beaming, extraordinary refraction and splitting in photonic crystals and stratified structures. The light straightening finds potential applications in design of optical devices. The super collimation and strong beaming can be utilized in optical integrated circuits. The extra-ordinary refraction can be utilized in sub wavelength imaging and information propagation. The splitting can be used in optical instrumentation and optical tuning. All these phenomena are …

Cross Infection Control in Impression Making Procedures A Pilot Survey
Abstract: Dental care professionals are at high risk of cross-infection while treating patients. This occupational potential for disease transmission becomes evident when it is considered that most human microbial pathogens have been isolated from oral secretion. The present survey was conducted with the aim of investigating the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour of dental staff and students toward cross-infection control during the procedure of impression making. A questionnaire consisting of 16 questions …

Gamma- and Electron Beam-Induced Crystalline modification in Poly (Lactic Acid): Effects of Radiation Dose and Dose Rate
Abstract: Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is an important commercial biodegradable polyester whose properties are dictated by its molecular architecture and semicrystalline nature. The application of ionizing radiation particularly gamma rays and electron beams is extensive for sterilization and materials processing. The effect of ionizing radiation on the crystallinity of PLA is complex however, since irradiation causes concurrently chain scission, radical formation, oxidation, recombination and mobility driven structural reorganization. This work studies the …
