Validation of Caratol E Tablet for its Melanogenesis Effect—In Vitro Study
Abstract: Vitiligo is a skin disorder characterized by pale patches due to lack of melanin. Lack of melanin may be due to reduced melanogenesis, lack of melanocytes and decreased tyrosinase activity. In the present study, Caratol E tablet was evaluated for its melanogenesis effect. Melanocytes viability was evaluated by MTT assay and tyrosinase assay. Caratol E tablet showed positive effect in increasing the melanogenesis. Results are discussed in the present paper. …

Supergenerics Regulation in India and US: A Comparative Review
Abstract: ‘Supergenerics’, a new form of generic drugs with improved properties such as safety, efficacy, stability or improved commercial attractiveness such as taste or route of administration. Those drugs are most often based on an incremental re-formulation of a generic API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) or the combination of multiple generic APIs. Process of forming supergeneric molecule need not to be complex all the time. A supergeneric may be as simple as …

Liquid Crystals as Novel Drug Carrier: A Review
Abstract: Liquid crystal is a thermodynamic stable phase characterized by anisotropic properties, generally lying in the temperature range between the solid and isotropic liquid phase, hence are termed mesophase. Based on the way that liquid crystals are obtained, they can be classified into two types—thermotropic liquid crystals and lyotropic liquid crystals. The thermotropic liquid crystal is generated by variation of temperature in the liquid state, while the lyotropic liquid crystal is …

Microneedles: A Potential Drug Delivery System for the Treatment of Cancer
Abstract: Hypodermic needles, topical lotions, and transdermal patches are the most common methods for transdermal drug administration. Most medicinal drugs have a limited effect due to the stratum corneum layer of the skin, which acts as a barrier for molecules, allowing only a few molecules to reach the site of action. Microneedles are a novel type of delivery method that helps to improve medication administration through this route while also solving …
