Abstract

Continuous increase in plastic consumption and poor management in dealing with its waste has led us to dispose huge amount of wastes into aquatic systems. Microplastics are the one with a size less than 5 mm; there are many ways in which microplastics can be generated. Microplastics can cause severe health issues to aquatic life through mechanisms such as entanglement and ingestion. This paper present study of documents examined on various fishes and also presents the need for policy making by regulatory agencies. Keywords: Microplastics, toxicity, plastics, organisms, environmentCite this ArticleReddy KM. {Rocha-Santos, 2015 #1}Microplastics and its impact on oceanic environment.
