Dynamic Performance Analysis of Non-metallic Spur Gear subjected to Variable Loads and Speeds
Abstract: The thrust for design and development of nonmetallic gear results in fabrication of inexpensive cement reinforced polypropylene based composite material spur gear. In this work, several experiments are conducted under variable loads and speeds and subsequently the resulting effect of heat emission on the performance of the gear is analyzed. A laboratory made gear test-rig is modified and suitably retrofitted; while pure polypropylene and 10 wt% cement reinforced spur gears …

Design and Development of Multistep Boring Tool
Abstract: Boring is the process to enlarge the diameter of hole or employed for finishing operation in machine shop. It is a process in which drilled hole, casting hole, forged hole diameter are increased by cutting device known as boring tool. Boring operation is generally conducted to enlarge the hole’s diameter. Spindle speed, cutting speed, feed rate and torque are very important parameters to be considered while designing the boring tool. …

Effect of Helix Angle on Performance of Helical Gear for Marine Applications
Abstract: Gears are one of the most critical components in mechanical power transmission systems. Today’s competitive business in the global market has brought increasing awareness to optimize the gear design. The gears are generally used to transmit power or torque and the efficiency of transmission is very high when compared to other kind of transmissions like belt drives and chain drives. The helical gear offers high contact and more friction which …
