A Review on Treatments of Gout for Future Aspects
Abstract: Gout is the most common inflammatory arthritis in adults, and is caused by excess uric acid pools in the body, which leads to the formation of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals and their deposition in and around joints where they induce inflammation, leading to acute gout attacks. The extreme inflammatory burden and pain of an acute gout attack can be unbearable. The prevalence of gout appears to be increasing and may …

HPTLC Confirmation of Lumina Herbal Shampoo
Abstract: The present study discusses about the HPTLC confirmation of the herbs used in the Siddha drug Lumina herbal shampoo. The study findings clearly confirm that all the herbs are well preserved in the shampoo base without any disintegration or denaturation. Assuming the therapeutic value of all the herbs used, the well preserved status of these herbs in Lumina Shampoo base validates their drug efficacy. Findings are discussed in the paper. Keywords: …

Graphene Oxide: A Potential Drug Carrier for Cancer Therapy—Review
Abstract: Graphene oxide (GO) is a single or few layer’s sheet derived from graphite using strong oxidizing agents. Graphene oxide possesses outstanding aqueous processability, amphiphilicity, functionalizability, surface enhanced area and fluorescence ability. Hydrophilicity is an important property for mixing the material with ceramic or polymer matrixes while trying to improve their electrical and mechanical properties. Acquiring a promising application in the biomedical area, graphene molecules undergo complex interactions with the biological …

Formulation and Evaluation of Transungual Drug Delivery of Fluconazole Using Permeation Enhancers Screened by Hydration of Nail Plate
Abstract: The objective of the work was to formulate nail lacquer containing fluconazole an antifungual drug for the treatment of onychomycosis. Onychomycosis, a common fungal nail infection affects the people. Topical and ungual therapy is limited because of the poor permeation of the drug through nail plate. Film base was prepared using varying concentration of cellulose acetate and ethyl cellulose as polymers. The permeation enhancers were screened by nail plate hydration. …

Simple, Direct and Stability-Indicating UV Spectrophotometric Assay of Pioglitazone Hydrochloride in Pharmaceuticals
Abstract: Pioglitazone hydrochloride (PGH) is an antihyperglycemic agent used in the treatment of type-2 diabetes mellitus. A simple and straight forward UV-spectrophotometric method is presented for the determination of PGH in bulk drug and tablets by measuring the absorbance of drug solution in 0.1M H2SO4 at 269 nm. A plot of absorbance versus concentration obeyed Beer’s law over 2–36 µg ml-1 concentration range (r = 0.9981) with a molar absorptivity of …
