Glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in Breast Carcinoma
Abstract: Cancer is one of the significant problem from health perspective, every year many females are diagnosed with breast cancer out of which many die because of this disease worldwide. Oxidative stress in human body is a result of imbalance between free radical production and antioxidant defense which may result in carcinogenesis. Primary defense Primary defenses rely on the direct scavenging and inactivation of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) which includes …

Hematological and Biochemical Changes in the Freshwater Fish, Pseudetroplus Maculatus Exposed to Sublethal Concentrations of Chlorpyrifos
Abstract: Sublethal effects of chlorpyrifos on hematological and biochemical parameters were assessed in the freshwater fish, Pseudetroplus maculatus. Fish were exposed to chlorpyrifos at two sublethal concentrations, 0.661 µg/L (one-tenth of LC50—96 h) and 1.32 µg/L (one-fifth of LC50—96 h), for 15 and 30 days maintaining the control group. Blood collected from the control and treated groups were used for analyzing the hematological and biochemical parameters. Chlorpyrifos exposure significantly (P<.05) decreased …

Comprehensive In silico Analysis of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) in Human BDNF Gene
Abstract: Since a number of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are associated with the BDNF gene mutations involved in different diseases. Hence, it is important to find out the probable functional SNPs before planning a larger population study. So, to look out for the functional nsSNPs (non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms) in BDNF gene, existing data present in the dbSNP database and different bioinformatics tools like SIFT, PolyPhen, nsSNPAnalyzer, F-SNP, I-mutant, Pymol were …

Modified Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide Method Improves DNA Quality and Quantity in Cotton: The Benchmark for Plant DNA Extraction
Abstract: A wide range of plant genomic DNA extraction or isolation methods are available; however, many of those are limited in their application for a diversified range of plant species. With special emphasis on robustness and versatility, we have improved the cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide method and isolated high-quality DNA from cotton leaf samples. The major modifications made to the protocol described here were a reduction of sample treatment steps and …

Growth and Nitrogen (N) Metabolizing Enzymes of Mesophilic and Psychrophilic Heterocystous Cyanobacteria—In Response to Temperature Regimes
Abstract: The increased NR & NiR activity, GS and nitrogenase activities at 25°C and 35°C in psychrophilic and mesophilic organisms indicates that the Arctic isolate is a psychrotolerant as it shows increased enzyme levels than its original temperature in which we isolated the organism though biomass was greater at 3°C. The biomass and enzyme data indicates cyanobacteria are the initiators of primary colonization in polar and alpine environments and are responsible …

Biomass Power-Green Energy Commitment in India
Abstract: Biomass is a renewable energy resource derived from living biological matter. It has environmental benefits because its combustion emits lesser amount of pollutants compared with the conventional fuels like coal, and so on. Another advantage of biomass is that it can be used as a fuel in the existing conventional power plants. In India, approximately 70% of the population is dependent on biomass for its energy and approximately 32% of …
