Computational Analysis of Epithelial Stratum and Physical Condition of Human Kidney Cells and Liver Cells Using Non Destructive Testing Technique by Scanning Acoustic Microscope
Abstract: The present work deals with the methodology governing scanning acoustic microscope (SAM) for non-destructive testing of biological samples (liver cells and kidney cells). Acoustic microscopy was performed on liver cells and kidney cells for measuring their thickness and also to determine their shapes. This technique was also used for evaluation of internal damage to cells. SAM images were taken for further qualitative and quantitative assessments. Using the quantitative data obtained …

Isolation of Amylase Producing Bacteria from Tella and Analysis of the Contribution of Their Amylases in ‘Tella’ (Ethiopian Local Beer) Production
Abstract: Abstract: ‘Tella’ is an Ethiopian home-brewed beer which is made up of different cereals and Rhamnus prinoides as bittering agent. The objective of this study was to identify efficient amylase producing bacteria isolates form ‘tella’ and compare their amylase with amylase from malt. Four potentially amylase producing bacteria (designated A, B, C, and D) were isolated and compared their amylase activities with amylase from malt using standard methods. The concentration …

Micropropagation Protocol for Mass Multiplication of Stevia rebaudiana (Bert.) Bertoni: A Natural Sweetener
Abstract: AbstractStevia rebaudiana (Bert.) Bertoni is a small perennial herb of the family Asteraceae. It’s sweetening power ranges from 100–300 times more than sucrose. The sweet compounds found in Stevia leaves are diterpene glycosides (steviol glycosides), eight diterpene glycosides with sweetening properties have been identified in leaf tissue of stevia. It is reported to be hypoglycemic, hypotensive and effective in curing skin disorders, tooth decay etc. The market opportunity appears great …

Structural Analyses of SoxY and SoxZ Proteins from Epsilonproteobacterium Sulfurimonas denitrificans: A Structural Bioinformatics Approach
Abstract: Abstract:Molecular level participation of epsilonproteobacteria for the global sulfur oxidation phenomena is an essential zone to be indulged with. Epsilonproteobacteria aids in the microbial sulfur metabolism both at and beneath the seafloor. For the recycling of the inorganic sulfur compounds, microbial redox reactions are one of the responsible and most important reactions to maintain the environmental sulfur balance. These reactions are carried out by phylogenetically diverse sets of microorganisms. The …

Utilization of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for Enhanced Electricity Generation during Domestic Wastewater Treatment via Microbial Fuel Cell Technology
Abstract: Abstract:The viable, cost-effective and energy-efficient wastewater treatment remains a curious concern among scientists. Microbial fuel cell (MFC) can offer such elegant solutions. MFC is an electrochemical system that converts chemical energy of chemical compounds into electricity via metabolic activities of microorganisms. MFCs are cost-effective methodology for wastewater treatment due to removal of contaminants from wastewater while at the same time producing electrical power. The wastewater, which is a source of …

Framework for High-Throughput Identification of Genomic Variants in Buffaloes
Abstract: The genetic improvement in livestock can be achieved through, i) selection and/through, ii) cross breeding. Conventional selection requires long time span and accurate performance records from the fields. The genetic improvement of Indian buffalo through cross breeding does not have much scope, as Indian buffaloes are genetically superior as compared to other foreign buffalo breeds. Thus selection based at molecular level will help us in identification of animals with desirable …
