Antibiofilm Activity of Thermal Evaporated Tin Oxide Thin Film
Abstract: Biofilm is the deposition of microorganisms and their products on a solid surface submerged in water, which is prevalent problem, responsible for the degradation of the surface over the time. Elimination of microorganisms from submerged solid surface is enormously important process to reduce degradation of that surface. Recently, Tin Oxide (SnO2) nanoparticles have attracted the attention of researchers for its antibacterial property due to hydrophobic and non-toxic nature. Thin films …

Nanocomposites Based on LDPE–EVA Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE): Effect of Laponite Clay
Abstract: The effect of pristine and modified laponite RD and RDS on a model low-density polyethylene (LDPE)—ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) blend system is explored in this article. The nanoclay particles are melt-blended with the LDPE–EVA system at 1.5 wt% loading. Both laponite RD and RDS are modified by ion exchange method utilizing dodecyl ammonium ion to improve the interaction of clay particles with polymer matrix. The blends …

Effect of Silicon Addition on 1% Cr Hardfacing Alloy
Abstract: Hardfacing of functional components of heavy engineering equipments enhances the resistance to wear and abrasion. Silicon (Si) metal is widely used as the deoxidizer and ferrite stabilizer. An experimental investigation was conducted using, low carbon high Chromium (Cr) steel electrode with different Si contents in the form of ferro-silicon to evaluate the influence of Si additions. In this work, Si in varying amount (1–5 wt%) is added to Fe-C-Cr welding …

Exploring the Effect of Modified Nanosilica on a Model LDPE–EVA-based TPE System
Abstract: The effect of modified nanosilica particles on a model low-density polyethylene (LDPE)–ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) based thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) blend system is explored in this article. Modified nanosilica particles were melt-blended with the LDPE-EVA system at 1.5, 3, and 5 wt% loadings through the variation of the sequence of addition. The blends were compression molded, and their morphological, rheological, mechanical and thermal properties were evaluated. The properties of the …
