Electrochemical Recovery of MnO2 from Spent Alkaline Batteries
Abstract: In the alkaline batteries of Zn/MnO2, the electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) is used as cathode that constitutes a very important part of household waste which contributes with heavy metals to the solid urban waste. This paper described the recovery of EMD by electro-oxidation on carbon cloth in acidic leached liquors from spent alkaline batteries. The maximum extraction for Mn and Zn were 43.68% (0.744 molL-1) and 56.11% (0.7321 molL-1) respectively. …

New Integral Processes Enrichment of Moroccan Oil Shale using Mineral and Hydrometallurgical Methods
Abstract: In this work, we increase the calorific value of Moroccan oil shale, which is the main element in the combustion of fossil fuels. In particular, we consider the shale of Timahdit, enriching it by hydrometallurgical and mineral processing methods in order to use it to generate thermal and electrical energy. Although different studies have been conducted for the development of Moroccan oil shale, but they have not dealt with the …

Recovery of Tungsten and Copper from Waste Tungsten Copper Borings
Abstract: During the last many years, the unused tungsten and copper alloy from the discarded electric and electronic equipment and industrial scraps are gathering attention as a section of waste. Because of tungsten's many diverse uses, numerous types of scrap were available for recycling by a wide variety of processes. In the present study, tungsten and copper was recovered by leaching process in ammonium hydroxide solution followed by electro winning process. …

UNCERTAINTY OF PILE DESIGN CAPACITY IN GYPSEOUS SAND SOILS
Abstract: Uncertainty of the design is a problem comes out due to the alteration of the soil properties. Depended on the available geotechnical soil properties of Al Najaf city, a study program is prepared to investigate the effect of the alteration of some soil properties, such as unit weight and angle of internal friction, on the design bearing capacity of a bored pile. The soil of the city is suffering from …
