Comparative Study of LEACH and its Optimized Variants in Wireless Sensor Networks
Abstract: AbstractTo capture sensed data from different locations, Wireless sensor network (WSN) requires large number of sensors in the monitoring area. A sensor helps in sensing and forwarding data to an application data store but due to inadequate energy, preserving the network lifetime and its operation remains a major challenge in WSN. To overcome this challenge different clustering techniques are proposed in literature. LEACH is a primitive clustering technique from which …

Gravel Scrap Tires Admixed Drainage Material in Landfill Leachate Collection System
Abstract: Amidst water for sustenance, underground water quality becomes further deterministic. The stance of its continual contamination due to infiltration, uncontrolled industrialization, unplanned inhabitation, etc., is making “quantity” meaningless unless maintenance of quality is addressed. One of the potent measures to combat this infiltration is creation of a semi-impervious media below the subsoil, which may regulate the outcome judiciously, and in a proffered way. The logistics, however, do not allow planned …

Role of Clay Liners in Municipal Solid Waste Landfills: A Review
Abstract: Rapid population growth has significantly increased the generation of municipal solid waste (MSW) in urban and suburban regions. Disposal of MSW in landfills without proper liner systems may lead to leachate migration and subsequent contamination of groundwater and surrounding soils. The use of liner systems at the base of landfills is therefore essential to minimize leachate percolation and protect the environment. Geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) and compacted clay liners (CCLs) …
