Biocontrol Agents for The Management of Rhizoctonia Solani in Rice
Abstract: The sheath blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani is an important disease in rice. The bacterial antagonists were tested for their potential to suppress R. solani in dual cultures. Pseudomonas fluorescens isolate 27 was effective in reducing the mycelial growth and sclerotial number of R. solani followed by Pf 2. In pot culture also, seed bacterization, root bacterization and foliar spray with Pf 27 individually controlled the rice sheath blight disease …

Exploring the Bioactive Potential of Himalayan Lichens: Phytochemical and Antimicrobial Profiling of Xanthoparmelia tinctina and Pyxine subcinerea Extracts
Abstract: The symbiotic association that develops between cyanobacteria, algae, and fungi results in the composite organism known as lichens, which has traits similar to those of plants but differs in its separate parent organisms. Lichens can have a variety of morphological characteristics, including foliose structures that resemble flat leaves, crustose structures that resemble flake crystals, fruticose branches that have short, leafless branches, and leprose-powder-like appearances. Due to their therapeutic potential, lichens …

Production of Biofuel (Biodiesel and Bioethanol):An economical and environmentally feasible way to the society
Abstract: In recent years, bio fuels growers have achieved significant enhancement in crop output and processing efficiencies and today the volume of bio fuels produced in a specific planted area is several times higher than it used to be as latest methodology and technical work to increase production of biofuel. In the sense of methodology, bio fuels are sub-divided into two large categories: substitute for diesel (biodiesel) and substitute for petroleum …

A Comparative Study on the Effect of Organics and Inorganics on Agronomic Attributes of Paddy
Abstract: A field study was conducted to evaluate different organic practices on growth and yield parameters of paddy. Treatment which was supplemented with inorganic practice (farmer’s practice) and was kept as control was recorded significantly highest plant height and number of tillers over other treatments at different critical stages, followed by the treatment which was supplemented with FYM (farm yard manure) at 10 t/ha + Green manure (Glyricidia) at 5 t/ha …

Isolation, Identification and Characterization of Bdellovibrio sp. from Soil and its Antibiotic Potential against Selected Bacterial Pathogens
Abstract: Bdellovibrio and Like Organisms (BALOs) are the world's smallest Gram-negative, highly motile delta-proteobacterial predators generally found in diverse environmental niches such as soil, seawater, sewage, bio films, freshwater, gastro intestinal tract of animals and in association with plant roots. These small bacteria attack gram negative bacterial strains attaching to the outer membrane and consuming the prey extracellularly (epibiotic predation) or penetrating their periplasm (periplasmic predation). Bdellovibrio exovorus MPR11 (Accession No. …

Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Activities of Commercially Available Essential Oils and Their Oleoresins
Abstract: AbstractThe objectives of this study were to evaluate and compare in vitro antibacterial and antioxidant activities of commercially available oregano, rosemary, sage and thyme essential oils (EOs) against their corresponding oleoresins (ORs) for potential application in food packaging systems. Thyme EO showed the best antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas fluorescens (MIC values ranging 0.4 ± 0.1 − 8.7 ± 2.3 mg/mL). Overall, the antimicrobial …
