The Parasitic Fingerprint: Tracing Infection to Host Illness
Abstract: Parasitic infections remain a major global health burden, causing significant morbidity and mortality, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. A critical aspect of disease pathogenesis is the unique molecular and cellular imprint left by parasites in their hosts, termed the “parasitic fingerprint.” These fingerprints encompass parasite-derived proteins, nucleic acids, metabolites, extracellular vesicles, and host responses, including gene expression changes, cytokine profiles, and metabolic adaptations. Advances in multi-omics technologies, which integrate …

The Induction, Formation, and Establishment of Giant Cell in Plant-Parasitic (Meloidogyne Spp.)-Host Interactions: A Molecular and Cellular Basis
Abstract: Root-knot nematodes, (RKN) are obligatory endoparasites of over 3000 plant species, causing $70 billion in annual economic losses globally. The second stage juveniles hatch from the eggs invade the root apex and inject pathogen effectors that induce specialized feeding cell called Giants cell that are large multinucleated cell formed, due to repeated cycles of mitosis without cytokinesis and served sole source of feeding site for rootknot nematode. The ability RNN …

Investigating mosquito innate immune defence mechanism towards malaria vaccine development
Abstract: Mosquito-borne diseases weigh heavily on public health across the globe. The mosquito’s innate immune system certainly decides whether malaria parasites survive inside the vector, and that sighted it as a logical place to discover new vaccine ideas. In this review, we examine how Anopheles mosquitoes defend themselves against Plasmodium parasites and how those defenses could be turned into tools for malaria control. We focus on three layers of immunity: antimicrobial …

Disease: A Major Stumbling Block in the Growth of Aquaculture
Abstract: Aquaculture plays a crucial role in ensuring food security, fostering economic development, and providing recreational opportunities worldwide. However, the intensification of aquaculture practices has led to a surge in environmental challenges, including water pollution, soil acidification, eutrophication, chemical contamination, and the spread of diseases. Among these, diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites pose significant threats to the sustainability of global aquaculture. Despite the implementation of various diagnostic methods …

The Impact of Climate Change on Animal Health and Veterinary Practices
Abstract: Climate change poses significant challenges to animal health, altering disease dynamics, impacting livestock productivity, and threatening wildlife populations. Rising global temperatures, changing precipitation patterns, and increased frequency of extreme weather events have direct and indirect effects on both domestic animals and wildlife. Heat stress in livestock, for instance, reduces productivity, fertility, and overall well-being. Water scarcity, malnutrition, and changing ecosystems also compromise the health of animals, making them more susceptible …

Driving Determinants Influencing Mortality of Goats in the Tropics: Challenges for Sustainable Livestock Development
Abstract: Goat mortality in the tropics is driven by multifactorial determinants that pose critical challenges to sustainable livestock development. Key contributors include infectious diseases, such as peste des petits ruminants, goat pox, enterotoxemia, and haemonchosis, which remain prevalent due to limited vaccination coverage and inadequate biosecurity measures. Bacterial infections, like pneumonia and caseous lymphadenitis, along with parasitic infestations, such as coccidiosis and liver fluke, significantly reduce goat survival rates, especially in …

Repurposing Approved Immunomodulatory Drugs for Target Proteins in the Pancreas of European eel: A Molecular Docking Approach
Abstract: Leishmaniasis is a disease caused by tiny parasites called Leishmania, which spread to humans through the bite of an infected female sand fly. The disease manifests in three different forms, and the protein calcitonin promotes the disease’s spread. By reducing blood calcium levels, inhibiting osteoclast activity, increasing calcium excretion, and possibly playing a role in neurotransmitter modulation, calcitonin, a hormone released by vertebrates, promotes the progression of pathogenesis and lessens …
