REPEATED MOPs VS DUAL APPROACH IN ACCELERATED ORTHODONTICS
Abstract: In contemporary orthodontics, there is a pressing need to minimize treatment duration, which is often a concern for both orthodontic specialists and patients. Prolonged treatment periods not only pose logistical challenges but also increase the risks of various dental issues such as cavities, periodontal problems, chronic discomfort, and root resorption. Accelerated orthodontics has emerged as a promising solution to address these challenges. Numerous efforts have been undertaken to expedite orthodontic …

Effect of 940-nm Low-Level Laser Therapy on Tooth Movement Rate during Orthodontic Treatment: A Split-Mouth Double-Blind Randomized-Controlled Trial
Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of low-level laser with wavelength of 940 nm on acceleration of orthodontic tooth movement. Materials and Methods: This study was a double-blind randomized-controlled trial with split-mouth design. Fifty-five patients whose four first premolars were extracted for orthodontic treatment were randomly allocated to group A (n = 27) and group B (n = 28). Canine retraction was performed using the force of 150 g …

Characterization of Antibacterial and Biofilm Inhibition in Tin and Zinc Oxide Nanoparticle-Doped Orthodontic Composites
Abstract: Background: This study investigated the antibacterial effectiveness of orthodontic adhesive enhanced with stannous oxide (SnO₂) nanoparticles against Lactobacillus acidophilus and Streptococcus mutans, in comparison to traditional adhesives without nanoparticle infusion. Methods: A modified orthodontic adhesive was prepared by incorporating 1% w/w of tin dioxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles (SnO₂ + ZnO₂ NPs) into Transbond XT. This nanoparticle-enhanced composite was used to fabricate discs for assessing antibacterial activity against Lactobacillus acidophilus …

Comparative Analysis of the Structural Integrity and Dimensional Stability of Additively Manufactured Biopolymers vs. Thermoformed PETG: A 1-Year Retrospective Study on Polymer Performance in Orthodontic Applications
Abstract: Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the long-term dimensional accuracy and structural performance of direct 3D-printed biopolymers compared to conventional vacuum-formed Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) composites. The investigation focused on how different polymer processing methods (additive manufacturing vs. thermoforming) influence material thinning and resistance to occlusal stress. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 60 cases (n = 60) of post-orthodontic maintenance. The sample was divided into two cohorts: Group …

Parametric optimization and validation of novel 3D scanning approach for sustainable manufacturing of patient-specific orthodontic retainers
Abstract: The purpose of the proposed study is to identify the ideal procedure parameters for 3D scanning a denture in order to produce customised orthodontic retainers that can be produced sustainably. However, pilot investigations rarely explore parameters like scanning angle, light intensity, or scanning distance. In order to lower acquisition error, the suggested study examines a method for forecasting the ideal values of the previously indicated scanning parameters. Based on the …

Comparative Evaluation of Variable Thicknesses of Vacuum-formed Retainers
Abstract: Since the commencement of this orthodontic specialty, it is a grueling and portentous task to maintain the orthodontically treated teeth in their corrected and desired position. Retention of what has been achieved is the goal and the most clamant phase of any orthodontic treatment as well as the orthodontist. To maintain the stomatognathic system's esthetics, function, and stability, orthodontic retainers play a vital role in precluding post-treatment tooth movement. The …

Protraction Of Mandibular Third Molar with Mini-Implants: A Case Report of a Preventive Strategy
Abstract: Abstract: This report outlines the orthodontic management of a 22-year-old female presenting with bimaxillary protrusion and a mandibular second molar (teeth #37 &47) with failed root canal treatment and deep caries respectively. To address the edentulous space left by the non-restorable second molar, Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) were precisely positioned in the buccal alveolar bone between the roots of the second premolar and first molar. These TADs ensured firm anchorage …
