Dual Dynamic Covalent Microcapsule Shells for Autonomous and Triggered Self-Healing in Polymer Matrix Composites
Abstract: We present a self-healing polymer composite system in which the traditional passive microcapsules are replaced by a dual dynamic covalent vitrimer shell. The shell consists of three interlocked layers, one of which is a brittle silica layer used to fracture at high stresses, and another is a vitrimer network, which employs disulfide metathesis and transesterification chemistries for autonomous healing of sub-critical microcracks. The shell design allows the realization of two …

Formulation and Evaluation of Microencapsulated Levofloxacin Gel
Abstract: To treat various buccal infectious diseases, a sustained release microencapsulated levofloxacin gel was formulated. Levofloxacin microspheres were being prepared following o/w emulsion solvent evaporation technique by varying concentrations of ethyl acetate, ethyl cellulose and tween 80. Depending on their flow properties almost all the microspheres were found to be excellent. The drug-excipient compatibility study carried out using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) resulted that the …

Polymeric Hybrid Systems Engineered with Multiple-Stage Energy Absorption for Temperature Control
Abstract: Polymer–composite based phase change systems offer an effective strategy for adaptive thermal management; however, most existing systems exhibit single-stage latent heat transitions, limiting their applicability in environments with fluctuating thermal loads. In this study, a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) polymer matrix was reinforced with two microencapsulated paraffin-based phase change materials (PCM-A and PCM-B) to achieve multi-level latent heat storage behavior. The fabricated TPU/PCM-A10–B20 polymer–composite demonstrated two distinct endothermic transitions at approximately …
