Participatory Demonstration of Grass Strips as Biological Soil and Water Conservation Measures in Kamba Woreda, South Ethiopia
Abstract: Land degradation due to soil erosion and soil fertility depletion is a significant threat to the agricultural system, limiting food security and sustainable agricultural production. This study demonstrated Desho grass strips as biological soil and water conservation measures in Kamba woreda Gamo zone south Ethiopia. Six (6) nearby trial farmers who took part in the demonstration directly were chosen for the study using the purposive sample technique. Sole maize and …

Participatory Demonstration of Desho and Elephant Grass Strip as Biological Soil and Water Conservation Measures for Erosion Control
Abstract: Participatory demonstration and pre scaling up of biological soil conservation measures (desho andelephant grass)compared with control (without grass) works were conducted in 2011/12 E.C on three beneficiary farmers field by the main objective is contribution of biological conservation measures for controlling soil erosion and assessing farmer perception on these measures. The data were taken from 132 m2 trail area. Average soil loss data that were obtained from Elephant grass 6.6 …

Intercropping Legumes Covers with Maize on Soil Moisture Improvement in Selected Dry Land Areas of Basketo Special Woreda’s, Ethiopia
Abstract: In order to increase land productivity, intercropping offers enough flexibility to grow two or more crops at the same time on the same plot of land. The advantages of intercropping systems have not been thoroughly investigated and are supported by available experimental data. The purpose of this study was to assess how intercropping affects soil moisture conservation in places under moisture stress, which affects land productivity. In this study, experimental …

Hydrolysis-Driven Optimization of Hydroxypropyl Maize Starch for Improved Micro-Pellet Binding and Quick Solubility of Spirulina-Based Micro-Pellets
Abstract: Acid hydrolysis is a well-established approach for modifying the physicochemical properties of polysaccharides & macromolecules including hydroxypropyl Maize starch (HPMS). In this study, the effect of varying concentrations of hydrochloric acid on the partial hydrolytic degradation of HPMS (Lycoat RS-780) was investigated at 85°C for 4 h, yielding polymers of different molecular weights. The Acid-mediated degradation effects on polymer characteristics were systematically assessed using capillary viscometry and gel permeation chromatography …
