Effect of Particle Size of Sand on the Interface Shear Behavior of Sand and Non-woven Geotextile
Abstract: Soil-geosynthetic interface is the weakest zone for shear failure. It is influenced by size, shape, density and water content of sand. It is also influenced by the properties of geosynthetic such as texture and structure. This paper explores the influence of the size of sand on the behavior of sand-geotextile interface. Three types of sands namely coarse, medium and fine sand and non-woven geotextile were used in this study. Several …

Polymer-Inspired Underwater Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum–Copper Composite Joints
Abstract: The problem of high-performance dissimilar joints and their compatibility with polymer and composite engineering applications is the impetus to the current work. This paper seeks to investigate the possibility of applying the polymer-based composite ideas with underwater friction stir welding (UWFSW) to improve the performance of AA5083 aluminumcopper joints. To achieve this a systematic experimental method was followed by varying the tool rotational speed, traverse speed and tilt angle and …

Development of a Durable Superhydrophobic EP/PDMS Coating Reinforced with Micro-CaCO₃ and Nano-ZnO for Enhanced Corrosion Protection and Multifunctional Performance on Carbon Steel
Abstract: Balancing exceptional multifunctional performance with mechanical robustness in micro-nano composite films remains a significant challenge for practical applications. In this work, a superhydrophobic coating reinforced with micro-CaCO₃ and nano-ZnO particles was fabricated through a versatile single-step brushing method. The optimized EP/PDMS@micro-CaCO₃/nano-ZnO coating achieved a water contact angle (WCA) of 173.54° ± 2.53° and a sliding angle (SA) of 1.50° ± 1.12°. Owing to its carefully engineered micro-nano hierarchical structure, the …
