Genetic Detection of Hepatitis C -Virus and Occult Hepatitis B in Patients from Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Governorate, Iraq.
Abstract: Recently, a noticeable increase in the prevalence of occult Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections has been observed among clinical cases such as patients undergoing hemodialysis, blood transfusion, liver diseases, and thalassemia worldwide. To limit and control this spread, the present study was conducted to investigate and detect the molecular presence of HCV and occult HBV using the Nested PCR technique, as well as to observe …

A Study to Determine the Impact of a Structure Teaching Program on the Knowledge of Needle Stick Injury Among Hospital Staff Nurses
Abstract: Needle stick injuries occur when needles accidentally puncture the skin, posing a risk to individuals working with hypodermic syringes and other needle equipment, particularly in healthcare settings. These injuries are recognized as occupational hazards in the medical field and raise concerns about the potential transmission of blood-borne illnesses, including hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Although the immediate physical effects of needle stick …

Computer-aided Drug Design Method for Anti-hepatitis C Drug Design
Abstract: Hepatitis C is a disease caused by the hepatitis C virus and can cause serious liver damage. There is currently no vaccine for this disease and the number of infections continues to increase worldwide. Currently used antiviral drugs are interferon alfa-2a and ribavirin, but about half of patients do not respond to therapy. Therefore, new drugs that protect against hepatitis C need to be investigated. Computational drug methods have been …

In Silico Screening of Terminalia chebula Phytocompounds as Potential Inhibitors of NTCP and DDB1 in Hepatitis B Virus Infection
Abstract: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major global health concern, and chronic carriers are at risk of developing cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and even death. Existing treatments can effectively inhibit viral replication, but they achieve little eradication of the virus because of covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) retention. In this investigation, bioactive compounds of Terminalia chebula, a plant known for its hepatoprotective and antiviral properties in traditional medicine, were …

Concurrent Acute Fatty LIVER of Pregnancy, Acute Hepatitis, And Viral Meningitis in An Advanced Maternal Age Pregnancy a Rare Triple Presentation
Abstract: Background: Acute fatty liver of pregnancy (AFLP) is a sometimes lethal, but very seldom, chronic hepatic disease during late pregnancy. The presence of AFLP with other severe diseases raises the level of diagnostic and therapeutic complexity to a higher level. Case Presentation: We present the case of a 45 years old multigravita and 26 weeks of gestation with a distinct triad of AFLP, acute viral hepatitis (cytomegalovirus [CMV] and herpes …

An Insight to Diagnosis and Management of Druginduced Hepatotoxicity: An Overview
Abstract: (ADRs) Adverse Drug Reactions are constitute and mutual chief health problem. Throughout the last period liver toxicity has remained one of the most recurrent reasons for pharmacovigilance protection intelligences and the withdrawal from the marketplace of an accepted medicinal product. Liver is a main organ elaborate in the systemic deposition and decontamination of exogenous and endogenous ingredients. Liver disfunction challenges not only health care specialists but also the pharmaceutical manufacturing …

Development of a Novel Therapeutic Approach Using RNA Interference for Targeting Viral Genes
Abstract: RNA interference (RNAi) is a ground breaking therapeutic strategy that holds immense promise for targeting viral genes in the treatment of viral infections. This approach leverages the natural gene-silencing mechanisms of RNAi to inhibit viral replication and expression at the molecular level, providing a precise and adaptable method to counteract viral pathogens, including influenza, HIV, and hepatitis viruses. Recent advancements in RNAi technology have enabled the development of highly specific …

Decompensated Liver Failure and Acute Renal Failure in a Patient with Chronic HBV,HCV, and HIV Infections
Abstract: This case study focuses on a 30-year-old male patient suffering from decompensated liver failure and acute renal failure, complicated by chronic hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), and HIV/AIDS. Presenting with severe abdominal pain, nausea, and general weakness, the patient had a history of alcohol and intravenous drug use, leading to chronic liver disease and acute renal failure. Despite aggressive interventions, including intravenous antibiotics and fluid therapy, his condition worsened …
