Fire Accidents and Mitigation Framework of Electric Vehicles in India
Abstract: Over the past decade, electric vehicles (EVs) have profoundly reshaped the global automotive industry, primarily due to significant advancements in lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery technology. However, the safety implications associated with high-energy Li-ion batteries, particularly the risk of fire, have emerged as a significant concern for EVs. This article focuses on recent developments in EV fire safety, particularly concerning thermal runaway and battery fires in Li-ion batteries. Instances of extreme misuse, …

Evaluating the Performance, Emissions, and Combustion Characteristics of CRDI Diesel Engines Using Pine Oil Blends as a Sustainable Fuel Alternative
Abstract: The performance of Common Rail Direct Injectors (CRDI) diesel engines is examined in this study in relation to interacts of pine oil used as an alternative fuel. Finding sustainable fuel solutions is of paramount importance given the growing environmental concerns and the decreasing supply of fossil fuel resources. Pine oil, obtained from resin tapped from pine trunks and processed through steam distillation to separate turpentine from rosin, offers a viable …

Performance, Emission, and Combustion Evaluation of Chlorella Vulgaris Biodiesel-Diesel Blends in a Compression Ignition Engine
Abstract: This study examines, without modifying the engine, the performance, emissions, and combustion properties of biodiesel blends made from Chlorella vulgaris microalgae in a four-stroke, single-cylinder, water-cooled CI engine. The blends of biodiesel and diesel, designated B10, B20, B30, and B40, were 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, respectively. Of these, B20 showed the best efficiency-to-emissions ratio. Although it recorded the lowest brake specific fuel consumption of 0.232 kg/kWh, indicating superior fuel …

Injection Pressure Optimization for Non-edible Biodiesel Blends in CRDI Engines: A Comparative Study
Abstract: The growing demand for clean and sustainable energy has increased interest in biodiesel produced from non-edible oil sources. These fuels are renewable, biodegradable, and do not compete with food resources. However, the effective use of biodiesel blends in modern diesel engines requires proper control of fuel injection parameters, particularly injection pressure. In common rail direct injection (CRDI) engines, injection pressure strongly influences spray formation, air–fuel mixing, combustion behaviour, and exhaust …

Review of Thermal Performance of Solar Air Heaters: Influence of Composite Materials and Advanced Thermal Storage Techniques
Abstract: Solar air heaters (SAHs) are essential devices for capturing solar energy and converting it into heat, finding applications in steam generation, refrigeration, agricultural drying, and space and water heating in residential and commercial environments. However, the thermal performance of SAHs is often limited by the low heat transfer coefficient of air and the absence of solar energy during nighttime, impacting efficiency and reliability. To address these challenges, this study explores …

Comparative Thermal Stability of Structural Acrylic and Polyurethane Adhesives under High Heating Rate Conditions
Abstract: This study examines the thermal stability and degradation characteristics of structural acrylic and polyurethane adhesives through Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) at an elevated heating rate of 15 °C/min. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of rapid thermal excitation on the volatile loss of adhesives, their curing behaviour, and thermal decomposition profiles elements that are essential in high-speed manufacturing and thermally challenging settings. The findings indicated that …

Advancements in Waste Heat Recovery from Multistage Air Compressor Operations
Abstract: In industrial production processes, waste heat is an important consequence, especially in sectors that rely significantly on composites and polymers. Frequently, this heat is released into the atmosphere without being captured, which raises operating expenses in addition to wasting potential energy. In these sectors, waste heat recovery, or WHR, has become a key tactic for raising sustainability and energy efficiency. The WHR potential of multistage air compressors—essential parts of industrial …
