Analysis of Oxidation Behavior on T-22 Boiler steel at 800°C
Abstract: The behavior of boiler steel T-22 in a rich air environment has been studied under the condition of isothermal at 800°C for 50 cycles in a cyclic manner. The kinetics of oxidation was established for boiler steel T-22under cyclic conditions for 50 cycles by weight change technique per unit area. Each cycle heating the sample at 1 hour followed by cooling 20 minutes at ambient temperature. Detonation gun spray techniques …

Performance of Ni3Al and TiO2 Coatings on T91 Boiler Tube Steel in Simulated Boiler Environment at 900°C
Abstract: Boiler steel tube corrosion in coal fired boiler is main subject during design and operation of thermal power plant and it leads to both direct and indirect loss of cost and energy, including losses due to plant shut down time and inefficiency of operation. One of the feasible solutions to solve out this problem is providing surface coating on boiler steel tube, which on one hand protects the tube from …

Performance of Cr3C2-25(Ni-20Cr) and Ni-20Cr Coatings on T22 Boiler Tube Steel in Simulated Boiler Environment
Abstract: Corrosion of metals is a dangerous process, due to which there is loss of metal by the attack of corrosive agents. The high temperature corrosion causes fast material degradation which results in failure of components. Boiler tubes in the thermal power plants are subjected to corrosion due to high temperatures. Thermal spray coatings have been used to reduce the corrosion of boiler tubes. In this research paper an attempt has …

Characterisation of Plasma Sprayed CNT-Alumina Composite Coatings on Boiler Tube Steel
Abstract: In this research work, the 1.5, 2 and 4 wt.% CNTs-Al2O3 coatings were prepared and successfully deposited on T22 boiler tube steel using plasma spray process. Ni-Cr was also used as bond coat before applying CNTs-Al2O3 coatings. The coatings were subjected to metallography, XRD and SEM/EDAX analysis. The porosity of CNTs-Al2O3 mixed coatings on T22 boiler steel was found to be decreasing with increase in CNTs content. The CNTs were …

Comparative studies of Oxidation and hot corrosion behaviors of uncoated and detonation gun sprayed Cr3C2-25NiCr coating on SA-213 boiler steel at 8000C
Abstract: Fe-based alloys suffer oxidation and hot corrosion when the surfaces were in contact with air (oxidation) as well as the salty atmosphere (Hot corrosion) at elevated temperatures. In these atmospheric conditions, non-protective oxide Fe2O3 was formed on the surface of alloys. Oxidation and hot corrosion have been recognized as a major problem in the applications of the diesel engine, boilers, gas turbines, and chemical power plant etc. Detonation-gun sprayed Cr3C2-25NiCr …

Current Status of Thermal Spray Coatings for High Temperature Corrosion Resistance of Boiler Steel
Abstract: In the thermal power plants, the conventional steels used in boilers are unable to sustain the hot corrosion issues. To reduce the problem of hot corrosion in the boilers, many types of surface coatings have been used in the recent past. Thermal spray techniques have been used to develop these coatings on the components of boilers. Thermal spray coating techniques are important means to develop coatings to increase the corrosion …

Oxidation Behaviour of Plasma Sprayed Carbon Nanotubes-Alumina Coated ASME-SA213-T291 Boiler Tube Steel
Abstract: In this research work, oxidation behaviour of Carbon Nanotubes reinforced Al2O3 coated ASME-SA213-T91 boiler tube steel specimens were investigated at 900°C temperature in air. The different CNTs-Alumina composite coatings were deposited using plasma spray technique and NiCr was used as bond coat before applying CNTs-Al2O3 coatings. The hot corrosion studies were conducted on all coated specimens in air at 900°C under cyclic conditions. The thermogravimetric technique was used to establish …

Current status of reinforced thermal spray coatings to increase corrosion resistance of boiler tube steels
Abstract: AbstractThermal barrier coatings are one of the best techniques to protect the metal surface from erosion corrosion attach. Aluminium and nickel based alloys are extensively used as thermal barrier coated materials with various techniques such as HVOF, APS etc. The techniques for applying the coatings gain their importance in thermal spray which results to get a layer deposited without affecting the properties of substrate material. Thermal spray coatings have been …

Corrosion inhibitors of steel applicable by green but toxics
Abstract: Inhibitors in detergent and alkali based chemicals are used in various media for steels. Toxicity has induced pharmaceutical compounds as better inhibitors to restrict pollutant gases emissions after reaction with alkaline inhibitors. Green in origin inhibitors are toxin free to use with detergents for inhibition of both pollutant gases and corrosion of processing machineries made of metals. Eco-friendly inhibitors have appeared for steel corrosion being embedded in concrete i.e. alkaline …

Effect of Isothermal Ageing on Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of 0.5Cr-0.5Mo-0.2V Low Alloy Steel
Abstract: Cr-Mo-V based low alloy steels are widely used in thermal power plants because of their ability to withstand elevated temperature and high pressure under continuous operation. With ferrite-pearlite and/or ferrite-bainite microstructures, these steels find their applications in boiler tubes, pressure vessels and steam turbines. Being cost effective is one of the important factors, which draws attention of many industrialists towards low alloyed steels over highly alloyed steels with austenitic matrix. …

Parametric Studies of In-house Resin for Hardness Removal
Abstract: Presence of high amount of calcium and/or magnesium makes the water hard as these ions in water react with other chemical agents and constituents of metallic plumbing etc. The process accelerates in the presence of heat. It decreases the efficiency of the unit operation due to the formation of scales. Hence, scaling is the main issue for which hard water is required to be treated or polished. De-mineralized water finds …
