Comparative Study of Biodegradation of Hydrocarbons in Soils under Nipa Palm (Nypa fruticans Wurmb) Treatment
Abstract: This study evaluated the potential of Nipa palm (Nypa fruticans) powder as an alternative amendment for remediation of crude oil polluted loamy and sandy soils. Further, the study investigated the bioremediation process using the first-order degradation rate and quadratic models. From the analysis, there were changes in the physicochemical properties of the soils under the Nipa palm powder amendment during the remediation. Also, TPH reduction in the amended soil samples …

High-Performance Carbon Nanotube-Reinforced Biodegradable Polymer Composites for Packaging
Abstract: The growing issues concerning the properties of petroleum-based plastics on the environment increased the demand for biodegradable alternatives and polylactic acid (PLA) is one of the most promising options available. However, its poor toughness, thermal resistance, and barrier properties limit broader applications in sustainable packaging. This study reports the fabrication and characterization of PLA-based nanocomposites reinforced with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) at varying loadings (0.1-2 wt.%). Structural analysis (FTIR, XRD) confirmed …

Role of Polymeric Composites in Controlled Drug Release Systems
Abstract: In the realm of controlled drug release systems, polymeric composites have attracted a lot of interest as they possess several diverse characteristics that enable exact control of the drug delivery rate. This lowers adverse effects and increases the efficacy of treatment. Usually composed of biocompatible polymers combined with functional fillers like nanoparticles, ceramics, or hydrogels, these composites help to get the desired drug release patterns. Stable, biodegradable, and bioactive materials …

Effect of Polymer Crosslinking on Drug Release Kinetics
Abstract: In order to improve treatment effectiveness and minimise adverse effects, polymer-based drug delivery systems are often used to produce regulated and sustained drug release. Polymer crosslinking, which alters the structural, mechanical, and degrading characteristics of the polymer matrix, is one of the key elements affecting drug release kinetics. The porosity, swelling behaviour, and rate of degradation of the polymer are all impacted by the crosslinking process, which may be accomplished …

Carboxymethyl Cellulose-Based Spray-Dried Microspheres: Recent Advances and Applications in Targeted Drug Delivery Systems
Abstract: Microspheres are spherical particles ranging from 1 to 1000 μm, made from natural or synthetic polymers and inorganic materials. Their structure allows precise drug delivery, improving targeted release and minimizing off-target effects. Natural polymers such as starch, chitosan, and alginate are favored for their biodegradability, adhesion, and compatibility, enhancing mucosal interaction and residence time. Microspheres are widely used in site-specific drug delivery, gene therapy, and vaccine administration, improving immunogenicity, extending …

Thermal degradation analysis of banana fiber by Coats & Redfern methodThermal Degradation Analysis of Banana Fiber by Coats and Redfern Method
Abstract: Nowadays, natural fiber is more advantageous than synthetic fiber. Natural fibers are used as reinforcement material with combination of polymer matrix. These are of different types like banana fiber, bamboo fiber, sisal, hemp, and jute, etc. Banana fiber is one of them which is most common and easily available fiber in global scenario. It is biodegradable, renewable, and lower in cost. This fiber is higher in cellulosic content. Out of …

Removal of Lead and Zinc from Industrial Waste water by Amla leaves Nano-bioadsorbent
Abstract: In the present research work, amla leaves (Phyllanthusemblica) were used for preparing nanobioadsorbent to remove heavy metals viz. Lead (Pb) and Zinc (Zn) present in wastewater. The major advantage of using amla leaves as bioadsorbent is its easy availability, abundance, low cost, biodegradable and eco-friendly nature. Prepared bioadsorbent was characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR), SEM and BET techniques. Variation in the experimental conditions such as pH, adsorbent dosage, stirring speed …
